I`m feeling a bit nostalgic today, so I dug into the safe and pulled out some of my most special items.

First up is a knife I got from my Grandfather when I was around 8 years old, a small Kent. My Grampa was one of my heroes, he was a policeman in the 1920`s and 1930`s in Cicero Illinois, then later became the Police Chief in my little town until he passed away in the early 1960`s.

That`s my Grampa, second from the right in this photo.

Here is Grampa with his pride and joy, his 1955 or 1956 Cadillac (I can`t remember what year it was).

These are two Colonials my Mother bought me. The camping one was bought in Lake Geneva Wisconsin, the fish knife was from one of those cardboard displays in our local drug store.

These were my Dad`s knives, a small Case, Camillus Stockman, an Imperial Kamp King, and a Victorinox Classic.

This is the Buck 112 that my wife surprised me with when we were dating in 1986. I knew right then and there that she was the one!

Thanks for reading this, these all brought back great memories for me.

Powerful! I wish I could have met him. We looked up to police back then. This is why I keep coming back.

Thanks for sharing John. I ish I wasn't as destructive as a child and still had some of the things I was given...

Guess I am now making memories with My knives that I intend to hand down.

If John doesn't mind, does anyone else have any to share?

That Case Eureka makes me want to see more! It intrigues me!

It's great that you still have the knife your Grandpa gave you! Most of my knifes prior to around the eighth grade were lost, and just last night my brother was surprised to see that I still have my Buck lockback that my mom got me in eighth grade, it's been in my wallet since then, but seeing as I dislike and have discontinued using wallets, it's now on my dresser by my dads dad's knife and my son/daughters knives.

Thank you for sharing!

Knives that have a memory attached to them are the most valuable ones you'll ever own. Thanks for sharing.

Great memories there John. Thank you for showing. I really enjoyed the nostalgia of the old photos and stories.

i still have the original slick black Case peanut my Grandpa gave me in the 1970's, that kinda started the collecting bug. i also have a mastercraft dog-leg jack with paint all over it from him that will remain that way. My grandma gave me a camco bartenders knife with local advertising, cracked ice handles. And my favorite was a buck 110 brand new I save up for and bought around 1980. Someone threw it in a pond camping once and its gone forever!!!!

That was nice to read. How fantastic having a knife gifted to you by your Grandad. Man- What a cool Grandad - a Police Chief! No wonder he was a hero to you - he was probably one in real life to be honest.

It's amazing how little things can bring memories flooding back. And before you know it, you catch yourself smiling.

Thank you for sharing.
