Hi,

I received my new S110V Military yesterday. First thing I noticed was the extremely stiff action. Next thing I notices was that the blade was off center. Third think I noticed were that both pivot screws were a bit loose. I thought maybe I had gotten a return, but seller said it was a brand new allotment from the distributor. I was able to center the blade my playing with both pivot screws. Unfortunately, the action hardly improved. I used a couple of drop of lite oil and proceeded to work the action about 100x. Still rough. I could deploy with my thumb, but the spidie flick with middle finger had some issues. I could here the washers rubbing against something when I would open and close the blade. When I pushed in the liner lock and the blade was horizontal, the blade would drop half way and then I needed to use my other hand to close the knife. This was my first experience with a liner lock and I guess it's just not for me. I love the smoothness of the compression lock on my PM2. I did like the color of the Military and it had a wicked blade with great ergos. I am going to wait until the compression version is release.

Anyway, I contacted the seller and he was great about it. He sent me a return label and I just sent it back. I told him I was interested in another knife and to just give me store credit. Well, I just ordered a ZT 0452CF. $13 more than the Military and I was fine with that. I then continued to look at his site for new arrival (bad move) and he had stock in the sprint run of Spyderco's Massad Ayoob plain edge in Cru Wear! I tried to order one from another company last week, but I was too slow. So, it seems everything worked out. Ill be posting pics and impressions when I receive these two.

Thanks

You just have gotten a lemon. When it comes to cutting performance, the Military is the superior knife compared to the 0452.

If the millie ever is redone with a tip up pocket clip option and/or a comp lock, I'd be interested. I do not carry tip down, its against my religion.

Anyway, congrats on the knives! Let us know how you like them.

I've never experienced a lemon Military (about 10 or so passed through my hands) although some did require a bit tweaking in order to get dead centered with smooth action and no blade play. It's a moot point as you OP already returned it to the seller. ZT 0452 is another great knife, just quite different from Military.

I feel like subpar Spydercos are few and far between. But it’s possible. Too bad about your Military. The Military is one of my favorites of all-time.

Any knife I had such issues with, I disassembled and reassembled and all was well.

I don't think you got a defective knife, just one you don't care for.

A compression lock Military? 😍😍😍😍😍

Welp, that's my new grail knife.
Straight up, I have been psyched for it for a while too! I asked for this very early on learning about knives in a thread called "Would anyone else like a comp locked Military and Civilian?", initially seemed to be met very poorly, but then I was told the Military 2 was coming, so, I guess not too poorly.

I think it will round out the collection quite nicely in the end.
