well i started with 2 blades. one a Mule team mt-10 in cts-bd1 steel and the other was from woodcraft store and is a s30v blade, one of the last that the store had commisioned spyderco to make for them. This is my first knife project making scales and sheaths from scratch, done my share of mods. this is one project i have been wanting to do for a while.

heres a group of pics going threw the process.

laying out the G-10 prior to initial shaping.

huh never heard of CTS-BD1, hows it hold up? great shaping on the G-10 btw definitely liking the brown more then the grey

i havnt had a chance to do any actual cutting with these other than slicing some paper and arm hair, they both arrived to me at the end of last week and i did both handles and sheaths over the weekend. i originally got the grey with intentions of dying it a color. as it was a light color to begin with i figured it would be easy to do and afford me opertunity to change it again fairly easy. It did turn out looking like bone using a gold RIT dye. which i like allot. I couldnt pass on doing one in orange. a cool color and the pattern in the g-10 shows pretty well in it.

as to what ive heard from others who have used and compared cts-bd1 it seems to compare well with D2 but is easier to sharpen. dont know that as a fact though and hope to get a chance to do some cutting with it soon.

thanks, this was a fun project and got some experience now with doing handles and working with kydex, have in mind a couple projects for some kydex now that ive had a taste.

I love the custom touch you gave those handles and the kydex. I have a murray carter white crane utility knife that sure could use one of your snazzy kydex sheaths.

im not making them for sale, but if you need a couple pointers on doing your own then hit me up. they are pretty easy to do overall. i definatly have a couple other knives i plan to do sheaths for , stock leather or nylon sometimes isnt the best, this is a good way to add a custom touch to any knife. im thinking im going to do one for my zt0300 and maybe a couple other larger folders. might do one for my little lumix ts2 camera as well.
