Hi !

I just want to show you my new Shaman !

I really like this knife, mostly because of its handle, which is the most comfortable I never tried!

I also would like to have your comments concerning the waves you can see on the edge.

They are not very pronounced: I had to use "macro" setting, right angle, bright light… to clearly show them.

Are all the new Spyderco sharpen like this?

Congratulations on your new Shaman, I also really like the ergos of the contoured scales.

I thought I read over on Spyderco forums recently, A similar question about the robotic sharpening marks on the edge. I have a few knives that are more "pronounced " then others, But all cut well and fade away under normal use/re sharpening . Hope you enjoy many years with your Shaman.

It's not really wavy, that's mostly an optical illusion. It's likely caused by the robot grinding at a very even, continuous speed, giving it a pattern. Some of the scratches are ever so slightly deeper than others, making it look like that. Here's a photo of my Tree Rex Shaman after a light sharpening, and you can see how some of those scratches have been removed, and small patches have not.

It's perfectly normal. Use the knife, sharpen it, love it! Mine is one of my most carried knives!

If I can only find an m4/jade shaman for a good price...

Thank you very much for all these explanations and advices! ;)

I can't do better with my camera. (You will obtain a bigger picture if you click on this one!)

The "waves" are almost unnoticeable. And of course, this Shaman is very very sharp!
I will carry it in the woods. For the city, I have a smaller knife!

The Shaman feels very strong. And thanks to this model, I discover the finger choil.
I didn't think a folder could be so comfortable.

Yes that’s exactly what I wanted to see, very good picture. The apex is straight and crisp, while I do see a little wave where the bevel meets the primary grind. It’s been a couple years since I’ve bought a new Spyderco and have never seen that before.

Do you think it is a problem?

From my point of view, no, since the "waves" are almost unnoticeable and the knife remain very sharp…
