I told myself I wouldn't be buying any more knives for the year back in september and now look, I've got 4 new spydercos. I've had the domino for a while now but the rest are only a few months old to only a day old to only an hour old. The native I got yesterday, the manix2 today. I can't believe how long it took me to buy those 2, they are great. I've had several different para 2's and finally settled on this all black one for my keeper. I haven't even used my delica, it's so nice I haven't been able to bring myself to actually use it so I might just look for a used one and keep this one brand new. I love the stainless backspacer on it and the native, you can barely see the line between the scales and spacer. Anyhow, what is it about spydercos that force you to keep buying them?

To answer your final question...

Its the performance to price ratio. They are a high value to low cost product.

Performance includes many factors

I agree.

And variety, they are a company that experiments with so many different steels and color/material handles.

Aesthetics, the spydie hole does it for me, and so do the majority of their designs.

And they are just fun. That probably has to do with all of the above. And most non knife people dont find them as intimidating in my experience. I think the spyderhole has them look at them in more of a 'corky' pov.

The Tenacious bit me years ago and its been a wild ride ever since. Multiple Delicas, Enduras, PM2, Militaries, the list goes on!
And just when I thought i'd found THE model for me (Stretch), new sprint runs and blade designs/steels call me back to models i'd previously moved away from. Its a lonnng way down the Spydie-hole and there's still no end in sight.

Enjoy your new steel!

These are tools. Tools used for cutting. With that in mind... In my mind these are some of the attributes that contribute to performance. Combining them in different ways determines how the tool performs. For me Spyderco has done it all right. They have balanced these attributes in a way that maximizes performance.

In no particular order...

Ergonomics of the handle.
Blade to handle length ratio
Angle of attack of the blade
Grind type (angle)
Edge shoulder thickness
Blade material
Handle material
Locking mechanism
Deployment method (the spyder hole we all love)
Carry method
Tolerances of the parts.

spyderco will not sit around with just a hand full of knifes much like others do,there always improving changing or making older models better, yes even better steels, thank you sal and son.you always out do your self's .PS have a wonderful XMAS/NEW YEAR.

They do have a way of acting like rabbits! Unexpectedly, 2017 saw my meager Spyderco family duoble with the addition of:
-Manix 2 LW XHP
-Schempp Bowie
-PITS
-Southard #3 (a black one this time).

I’m done for a while (or so I tell myself). ;)

I'm with you on this. Not sure how many "last Spydercos" I've bought. Seems like there is always a sprint run around the corner or a model I've been looking at for awhile about to be discontinued. Honestly once you get over the hump and stop fighting it just becomes an expensive but bitchin part of life. I like using Spydies, carrying, reading about, and looking at pics. My name is Will and I'm a Spydieholic. Oh by the way really love the way you set up the Domino

I got really excited when I read the title of your post. I was going to send my Spydies to your house so they could learn to reproduce as well. I knew it was to good to be true.

Feel free to send me anything you want, I'm sure it's find a use for them. Just after I posted this I actually bought another delica. What's wrong with me?
Merry Christmas all

You need an endura in your life, the upcoming sprint in V-TOKU looks awesome.

The Military in M4 takes the cake for me however.

I wish my spydies would reproduce by themselves so that I dont need to spend more $ on buying...

There's nothing wrong with you, it's just the early days of the Spyderco infection :)
