I'm just now getting over my Spyder bite. Luckily, I had just sharpened it, and barely even felt the slice. It stopped bleeding after a few minutes, but being that it was on my left pointer finger, I ended up opening it the next day during a race. A week later I can't even tell it was there!
I've had pretty much every one of mine bite me at least once. Worst were my zulu, manix 2 dlc, and endura vg10. They were super sharp when I first got them
Happens. About half of the very tip of my left pointer is scar tissue from my 75mm Persian.. worst bite I've had. Be careful, while they're usually just an "aw darnit" and heal up pretty quickly, they can still be very dangerous. Took over a month for that one to heal and while not a huge deal, that finger definitely won't ever be 100% like it was.
LOL I have been bit quite often by my spydies. I have ONE knife that I don't even EDC any more because it wants a blood offering every time I open it. Its a Bob Terzoula silipt, and it HATES me! I just pass it by when it comes up in the rotation.
I know this may seem counter-intuitive coming from a fellow knife knut... but don't play with your knife! At least not the Tenacious (series) because of their extremely long edges and the relatively small "tang" that you can catch with your finger. I've not had problems with Endura, Delica, Military, but my Boker Subcom bit me something fierce... cut of a 5 mm flap of my thumb and still have the "half-moon" scar. My Tenacious sliced off the very tip of my thumb during some food prep....thankfully it was mostly callus.
This is after three days of healing with tape & no movement, too close to the crease anyway for stitches. I had just sharpened my son's knife & was reaching out to strop it. The ironing board was over the saw horse & I was reaching under the board and managed to stab the sawhorse with a loose grip on the delica's new custom scales. My hand slid up the blade and the finger was sliced with almost no pressure. I knew immediately I had screwed up. After a week it was mostly healed again. Be careful out there!
This is also why I try to only keep and carry knifes with choils/finger catches(like the flipper on the zt560 & Southard). 90% of the time I have cut myself has been while closing the knife (playing with the knife and getting the feel for it.)
Oh, you got off easy! My Ambitious bit me so hard last December that I was leaving a trail of blood. Had to have six stitches after waiting in the ER for about 5 hours.
Nothing wrong with getting bit every now and again. The worst part to me is when you get a bite and it is jagged...its embarrassing getting gnawed on by a dull blade in your collection.
