***** Yes, I typed Spyderco wrong in the title *****

I've posted these on Spyderco.com, but I thought I'd share it here....

I've heard of people having gritty Chaparrals but I guess I was lucky...

Hey guys, just picked up my Chaparral today... I am totally in love with it. Here are some of my quick initial thoughts of it. (by the way, isn't Chaparral a fun word to say?)

YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueEMbtf-3pM&feature=channel_video_title

I can confirm in my situation, it seems to be flawless... it opens up like a zippo; it feels great and looks great. The blade lines up the center, and the blade opens and closes smoothly.

The "twill" carbon fiber is not only pretty to look at, but its also functional. It doesn't have grip like a G10 or an FRN handle, but for this knives intention of use it will serve me good.

This is the most sharp from factory knife I've ever received!

It's really not that much bigger than a Dragonfly, but it feels a lot bigger than it actually is.

I think this photo shows the texture of the Twill in the CF the best in this photo... bumpy feeling.

I love how it fits in this little interior pocket... just like the Dragonfly!

Very nice photos, and congrats on the new knife. Any chance you could post an overhead comparison shot of the blade thicknesses/grinds of the Chaparral, Manix 2, and Dragonfly you have in some of the photos?

How do find the chaparral handle size/ergos works for you? I only ask as I have real problems fumbling my big mits around the likes of the Dragonfly yet the Caly Jr suits me rather well.

Yeah, I could... I'll do it tomorrow.

Although the Chap is a smaller knife, it sure feels a lot bigger than it really is.

I ware a size Large glove, and I don't have a problem with the Dragonfly, the the Chaparral will for sure be a better choice for you.

Thanks for the great photos! I always enjoy the Spyderco "family" and in-hand shots, they give me a much better idea of size than the general specs do.

Thanks to the OP for all the pictures, however that now has me thinking. I already own a black FRN Dragonfly-2 have a G10 Dragonfly-2 on the way for Christmas. I was pretty much all set to get the Chaparral, but after seeing those pics, I'm wondering if it's really worth it to me. Sure, I get a blade that's ~1/2" longer, but I'm not sure that enough to justify that expense.
