Hey fellas, just thought I would share some photos of three of my favorite blades! I love the bigger bowies that come out of the Swamp just as much as my Busses. The handle designs and differentially heat treated SR-101 both contribute to the comfort and efficiency when chopping with these bad boys. I used to have a Battle Rat which I would use almost every hike, camp, or fishing trip, but I sold it regrettably. It took me a long time to find another old school Battle Rat (old logo w/ penetrator tip), and an even longer time to find the Rat Mastiff (sterile w/ penetrator tip)!! Thanks to the generous members of this forum who were kind enough to part with them! I apologize for the less than stellar pictures, but I just wanted to snap these real quick before going out to paint the town red. Enjoy!

Brendan, NICE blades Bro!!!I wish SRKW would get the M9s out the door, ie. CG types. I want one of those Sage/Tan M9 like bad.....

"I got a fever, and the only prescription.....is more Swamp Rat!"

I have the same affliction, my friend.

I know of the love, man. I have a Satin Battle Rat. I hug it and feed it and call it George.

Great looking blades! Lucky man! And I'm one too with my BR! :)

You have a handle you like better? If you could only have one of these, which would it be?

Nice collection.

I had a shot at a Battle Rat from the factory back in the day. I decided to buy a Camp Tramp instead. Seemed more practical at the time.

I like the BR the best if for no other reason than the comfy, shock-absorbing, Res-C handle.

Hey fellas, thanks for the comments! I don't know what it is about big bowies, but if I see something in the 8'' to 10'' range I just have to have it :p

As for the handle design RPN, for usage I would take the Res-C Battle Rat handle any day of the week! The softer handle really does absorb shock well if you are chopping harder wood or batoning. In terms of just playing around and fondling, the Rat Mastiff handle is spectacular!! Not only does the old school micarta pattern look wicked, but the handle feels really comfortable...especially when you choke up on the blade and make use of the finger choil. Is your Battle Rat a safe queen or a tree beater? Either way man, its an excellent blade and one of the most coveted in my collection

My BR is a beater and I love it. Took me awhile to make the jump to chopper...I'm amazed what a difference a little more weight and a couple inches makes compared to my Camp Tramp. The CT is GREAT and a better carry size for me, but I'm amazed at the power the BR has.

Love those old school handles on the Ratweiler and Mastiff..the 1st generation handles are....to cool for words...although, except for my Vex(and soon RMD :) ) everything I got is Res C baby!!!
