My stepson asked for a knife for his birthday, but it couldn't be just any knife.myself and him had to make it together, out of a bunch of materials and styles he chose what was done to the knife and what to use (he's 11 btw).As i've had him in the shop a few times while i was working he had a vague idea of what to do so some of the work on this knife was done by him (which is exactly what he wanted:) ).The more he did to the knife the happier he was with it.For the blade we used a file ,handle material is buffalo horn because he liked the white stripes in it and we used cocobolo for the bolsters which as left over material from a knife i just finished,he liked the way it looks on my knives so we had to incorparate it somehow in his knife. For the sheath we used kydex.Once we finished he asked if we could post a picture of this knife onto the knife site i go on,so here's his knife which we signed with his name :D

Glad to see youngsters with in interest in making them rather than running for the cheap tacticals out there. Good luck with it, it looks pretty cool.

The young gentleman has a good eye for what makes for a nice looking knife. What you two did there was to make a future prized possession.

Happy Birthday to your stepson.
He made some nice choices on his knife, and you made him something he will treasure the rest of his life.
It probably don't get any better than that.
