Last year I wrote some about my Queen #9 Stockman. I had some questions about the steel (D2) for example. The last year has prooven the Stockman design for me. Its very allround. Its like having a jackknife with my favorit blades: long clippoint and sheepfoot and a bonus short clip (yes I ysed the file on it). I still dont like the D2 very well but I live with the shortcomings of the steel. The clipblade is reground hevy. Its now flatground from spine to edge with a thin primary convexed edge. The etching is long gone.
The thing is this, att first I didn,t like it at all because of the edges and the shortcomings of D2, so I decided to us the crap out of it. And I did. Now after working with it for a Year, hunting, fishing, construktion, making food and wittling boats and whistles for the kids ,Its a knife I love to own. Why is it the knives you dont nurce that komes closest to the hart. Its the using and carrying that gives personal caracter.
