I posted this elsewhere...and because a picture is worth many words (and perhaps many hours also), I will let the image speak.

Thanks guys!

orchunter93, These photos are the result of many hours of work. I started months ago when I got the knife and started reprofiling and testing it out for my intended use. It kept excelling at the job and so I kept profiling thinner until either I reached my limit or the blade steel's. The polished edge kept extending further and further up the face of the blade...so I finally took the polish all the way.

I can not even guesstimate the hours involved (well...I could guess, but I would rather not)...each profile job was more than a few hours. (everything was done by (free)hand).

Orion's Belt, Thanks! It does appear to be a zero, but it is not. The faces of the blade are perhaps a degree different from my bevel. My bevel extends about a centimeter up the primary bevel (no micro bevel on this one).

Mentaculus, Have a look at the first picture post #3 on this thread....now look as far to the right as possible. Do you see that little abnormality in the reflection of what ought to be the straight side of the Edge-u-cation page? That is the transition from secondary to primary bevel.

PCP, it cuts like the whisper of an angel. I have cut a LOT of reinforced rubber with this thing, and this (particularly after the full polish) glides through the material better than anything else I have tried (and I have several industrial cutters made for the task).

Warriorsociologist, I stopped using diamonds at 3 micron, then started using chromium oxide on leather, bare leather, then cotton cloth to get the polish you see. The blade feels quite slick to the touch...almost as if it has a coating of oil on it. This is most notable when in use.

Softrockrenegade, yes, I use it. It may come as a surprise, but this was done for performance. I would be telling a fib if I said that the portion of the blade around the hole was not done for looks though...there is no performance gain in that area.

on_the_edge, Thank you very much. It does look very nice, and I am VERY proud of it, but I assure you, it is not perfect. If you handle it long enough, you can see some mistakes. It is a little cloudier now from use and patina...nothing I can not fix easily enough though (it just takes time).

Edit to add...

Here is a video of one of my early rounds of reprofiling and testing (back when it was still wider than 10 degrees). This is the sort of task that this blade is optimized and used for (decommissioning tires). It is an odd use for a knife perhaps...and I am not about to suggest that the knife would be good for many EDC tasks...it is specialized to do this, but it does other "office" duties like a champ. Plastic zip ties, and industrial cardboard would probably turn this thing into an ugly mess!

I am dumbfounded. That is the most radical blade-work I have ever seen. You've advanced the very essence of what a knife is. Thank you for the post and the revelation!

Peales, Those are some mighty flattering words...I am flattered!

Warriorsociologist, any time my friend!

Thanks again guys.

Wow, that is spectacular! Truly just amazing how mirror-like you got that. And I love the fact that you did it for performance rather than just looks.

Thanks guys. It was a ton of work, but it was done over a long period and it was guided and constantly rewarded by performance in use. It is a fun project.

Thanks again.
