This summer, I spent, sawing and nailing with little time spent at the forge.
I had promised my better half, that I would screen in an octagon green house that had stood on the hill since 1980. It was the first thing to be built when we moved here.
We thought since it had withstood the elements for 28 years, it was worth, the effort, needed to save it.
The walls are heartwood redwood and came from a greenhouse built in the 50's.
I bought over a hundred of the wall panels at a sale the year we built the octagon.
It is 16 ft. across. It took 6 1/2 gallons of boiled linseed oil and stain to bring the wood back to life.
I wore a brush out along with my right arm.
I have always loved the octagon shape and find the screen house, a favorite relaxing place.
A little clean up and I will be back at the forge, making knives.
