I like to carry a new knife at least a week to get a feel for it before I formulate an opinion of it. However, I do have some good first impressions of the Super Commander. This is what I emailed Al (Kwaiken56) early this morning:

"I rec'd my SC Monday morning. The blade is VERY sharp, and perfectly centered. The fit and finish are fine. Overall QC is fine. I took it apart tonight, cleaned & lubed it. I'm still getting used to the SC. It takes me a week or two to really know how I feel about a new knife. In a week or so, I'll probably post my impressions of it on BFC.

Since it's thinner and (a lot) lighter than my AR, it's easier to carry in pocket. The satin finished blade looks quite a bit less deadly to your average Joe than my AR. My AR is still my favorite folder by far, but I'm happy with the SC. I'm even learning to wave."

If the QC of my Super Commander is representative of current production Emersons, I don't see what some people are complaining about. It's a USER, right? BTW, calling it a user is NOT a cut...

I'm not quite ready to do my review, as I'm still getting to know my new satin finish Super Commander.

However, I just exchanged email with Larry at BladeArt. I had him reserve a Mini Commander BT for me to order as soon as he opens Monday. I guess that indicates that I'm pretty happy with my Super Commander...

I'm not quite ready to do my review yet. Just an quick update, as I'm still getting used to my Super Commander. I like it a lot, but I like the Mini Commander I rec'd last night even better!

I like the idea of the Super Commander, but Holy crap for the price of one it had better preform sexual favors.

OK, I'm ready to do my review. Some of this is copied and pasted from fight9fire9s thread, “Satin Super Commander”.

First, the most important part, the blade. It’s beautiful, it slices like crazy, and it appears to be strong enough for just about anything. I LOVE this blade!

Next, QC. QC is not bad at all. There are no glaring faults. It’s no Sebenza, but then again, I own Sebenza and haven’t carried it since I rec’d my AR. All the Emersons I’ve seen were meant to be USED. That’s a GOOD thing. I have NO problems with the QC.

Next, the handle. Before I air my opinion, I need to explain where I’m coming from, My all time favorite EDC is my Strider AR. It feels PERFECT in either hand, any type grip. My Mini Commander feels great, just a bit small. My Super Commander feels just a bit large, larger than my AR. I guess it's because the handle on my SC is fairly wide and thinner than I'd like. My Mini Commander is the same thickness, but it feels thicker, better proportioned. However, it's just a bit too small. I like carrying it more than my SC, but it's just a bit too small.

I don't care for the handle on the SC. It feels awkward to me. The width is OK, but it needs to be thicker. This knife needs the thicker liners and scales of the 5 year Silver Shadow so bad it hurts.

All this is just my opinion. The Super Commander is a darn good knife. I like it a lot. With a thicker handle, it would be an awesome knife.
