I received a black E2 from Tim Flanagan (noreastknives@bigfoot.com) today (Thanks Tim!), and all I can say is...

WOW!

The pictures just don't do this thing justice. Smaller AND lighter than I imagined, and please, will someone tell me how they managed to pack this much light into such a small package?

Even my wife was impressed! First thing she saw, when I opened the package, was the invoice (Thanks Tim! :p ). You paid $xx.xx for a flashlight? You paid what? Well, I took her into the darkened, enclosed office next door to mine and made a believer out of her! :D ;) :p :D

Simply awesome!

Glad you like it, Starfish. I love mine. All the other techs ask to borrow mine rather than digging out their minimags. That's ok with me because then I can talk the boss into springing for some 123A's!

I really like the Hard Anodize E2 better then the E1. The E2 is only marginally bigger and is very easy to hold in the hand. The E1 is a great light for what it is but, it is short and stubby so, it just wasn't a natural grab for me. The E2 is only marginally heavier or more expensive so, it's an easy choice with my wallet.

In the smaller E1 class of light, I really want something much smaller like an ARC LE flashlight.

An ARC LE and a SF E2 make a really good duo

Starfish,

It's funny you mention wowing your wife in the darkened, enclosed office. When I got my E2, I tried it in the house at night, and was unable to experience the light's full potential. Later that night, I was shining it across the backyard into trees on other lawns, and was just blown away. This light is unreal.

HA E2 and HA Arc LE make a great combo. I ordered an E1 for the helluvit. It's lost in the mail. I bought a beamshaper in anticipation of the E1. Put it on my E2 in the meantime. Much better for up close work. (They even work on the Mini Mags.) Now I'm waiting for the long runtime lamp and HOLA. But I'll have to get an E2e to use that. Oh well... One more thing to buy. Plus the E2 Mini Turbo looks pretty cool.

You can get the V82 holster direct from Sure Fire. The E2 and E2e are supposed to fit.

Just FYI, V82 fits both E2 and E2e.:) A great sheath to boot too.

An Arc AAA (soon to be CPF Edition ;)) and SureFire E2e are my EDC too. IMO no two small lights complement each other better for EDC.

Ditto that on the backyard. I tried that last night, standing out on my back porch and shined it into the neighbor's yard behind me. I saw the light reflect off of their dog's eyes....I'm not a good judge of distance, but I'd say it was about 50-60 feet or so!

I'm still amazed....can't wait to show it to my dad this weekend when I go down to visit. He's got a Maglite, either 2 or 4 D cells, and I know this will be as good or better :)

Funny, that's what happened where I work as well. Alot of people come by and ask, "Don, can I borrow your light?" Our IT people who are installing and tracking cabling above the ceiling tiles, our molding guys who need alot of light to look into barrel and screw drive assemblies, a maintenance guy who came to do some refrig compressor work whose own light took a dump. A couple of times, people have needed a light when someone else was already borrowing the E2. I loaned them my M3 with the MN11 bulb. Geez, did that get their attention.

I guess I'm lucky in that two of the Surefires I have were gifts from my wife, who was quite impressed when my older 6P with the P61 lamp easily lit up the backs of houses across a school field on one of our evening walks.

I just ordered in two dozen batteries on the company tab

Thank you

Martin - burn time for the E2 is approximately 75 minutes. I believe there is a low-output lamp assembly in the works for the E2 and E2e that is supposed to push the burntime to a little over 2 hours...someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Matthew

Matthew, you're correct. The standard burntime of an E2/E2e is 75 minutes, give or take a bit. The LOLA is due some time mid-year, with, IIRC, a 25Lu rating (about as "bright" as a 2D-cell Mag) for 150 minutes. Also due is the KL1 LED conversion at somewhere in the 18-20Lu range. Can't remember the burntime, sorry.

Just picked up an E2 myself. Absolutely amazing amount of light for such a compact unit. I got my girlfriend an E1.., and was thinking about one for myself also.., but it just didn't feel right in my hand.., and obviously isn't near as powerful.

I was a little skeptical about carrying the E2 using the pocket clip.., thinking it would be too bulky. So far.., not the case at all. I've carried it for two days and hardly know it's there.

I'm still using my 6P, and haven't seen a *good* reason for a switch yet. [OK, fairy snuff, I do use the P61 lamp assembly... 120 lumens]

Any suggestions as to why I should go to another lamp. Now, I thought about the G2 for lightness...

And I can certainly see why I want the spares carrier - I eat the batteries [cheapest place in the UK I found, incidentally was mail order from Germany www.tool-shop.com]

Still, I love it when people look in the front and flash themselves.. despite a warning.

Surefire rocks.[even with a 6P]

I got my E2-GM from Tim when they first came out. Loved it. The barrel and tail cap got FUBAR'd so instead of getting replacement parts, I am settling for an E2e. Heh.. settling for... :D

Hope it's sent out soon. I love the look and I can't wait to have it with a Pyrex lens and lock-out tailcap.

Dude ~ The E-2 is one helluva light!
hey, samo, I believe you!

But why would I want to switch? 120 lumens is a lot of light (P61 assembly). I belt carry it anyway - so a clips not an issue...

My batteries ran out the other day and I went all day without the use of my E2. Man, I have gotten to rely on it alot. I use it often in my job (as a network guy) and at home (taking the dog out at night, lurking in the basement)

My "gotta get a new flashlight" bug is all but gone.

The E2e looks pretty cool, but I am happy with my E2 the way it is. Maybe I will see about getting the pyrex lens and lockout tailcap if they are not too expensive.

The lockout tailcap would be particularly nice -- anyone else have the problem of the light coming on when sitting down or standing up? It is always just momentary. It makes my wife laugh.
