Hello friends, so like everyone, I needed a knife that can cover most of my needs. I decided on a Khukuri or Khukri or Kukri.

I bought this model.
Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packin' right here, alright. We got an 11" long blade, about 9mm thick, and a little over 2" wide at the belly, 5" rosewood gripper handle with guard, half an inch extended tang. We're talkin' some f*n muscle.
*I used cardboard and duct tape around the sheath because I stabbed through it on the first sheathing.*

I modified the knife and made a kydex sheath for it.
*size 11 shoe for size reference*.
This is my first ever kydex sheath so I would like to claim the award for ugliest sheath.
Also this is the first knife I ever modified other than sanding an Ontario Machete handle.
I forced a patina on the blade.

The handle was a lot of work.
I ebonized the wood using a vinegar and steel wool solution, multiple layers.
I sanded down the handle to better fit my hand and also filed off the 3rd finger mound.
I filed a notch maker (patent pending) at the end of the tang/pommel and also a bottle opener (patented)(I never had a bottle opener before this one!).
I don't have any power tools so I did this all with hand tools...wow!

The sheath has a lanyard retention system (patented).

Cross draw and deep opening on blade side for efficient draw and slice offensive maneuver.

It can also fit in my pocket...try doing that with skinny jeans, queer!

I hope you enjoyed checking out my knife. When I first bought it I really really liked it, now I love it and want to marry it.

I'm pretty sure you aren't telling the truth when you say "This is my first time doing such and such"... You're way too good at that to be inexperienced :p:D

Seriously though, that looks awesome. Some very neat and functional mods, and a very good first kydex sheath. Kukris are one of the more obnoxious blades to work kydex on, due to their size and shape.

Who made the kukri? It kinda looks like a GK&CO, but then, most kukris tend to look similar...

I'm dead serious, this is the first time...I just try to pay attention to detail. Yes it was made by GK&CO. Yes I had to reheat the kydex over and over until I got it somewhat right. Now knowing how hard it is to work kydex I give so much respect to people that make good kydex sheaths and holsters.

Thanks

Well, you've certainly got a raw talent then. It really did turn out great!

And yeah... The kydex benders around here are incredible. I've made dozens and still can't figure out how they do any of it.

Wicked! Choppers seem to be a pretty thing around here, a good kukri seems to be the pinnacle of what a chopper could be as well as being a great all around utility knife. I've owned some beastly knives but find a good kukri hard to beat.

Great work and nice job on the sheath!

What steel is that? I really like the style of the kukri. You did an awesome job on the sheath and handle. It has to be hard to make a sheath for something like a kukri.

Also, who are you calling queer? Keep your derogatory remarks to yourself, thanks. Just seems in poor taste. Although I do think people in skinny jeans look retarded.

All right, both of you, lets keep the languaqe here family friendly, and discuss the knives and not each other, before this turns into Whine & Cheese.

Hey thanks for the kind words guys!

RemyKaze, this blade was forged from the iron from the blood of history's greatest warriors.

....actually its 5160 carbon steel aka re-purposed old leaf spring steel.

I need to get something made out of 5160. I've heard good things, but I can't justify another big knife at the moment. I'm really interested in the Ontario lines.

Didn't mean to come off harsh. I see that word as a slur, just how I've been raised. No disrespect intended on that point.

This thing seems to work pretty good! A few hacks resulting in some nice chunks removed! I'm sure this thing can make quick work of logs or villain hands!

Let me be the first to point out the excellent reference to Dazed and Confused, specifically Wooderson and his 1970 Chevelle SS named "Melba Toast".

That's right....McConaughey in Dazed and Confused! It was driving me crazy trying to remember why the OP's post sounded familiar, lol.

Accelerator and jonnyt16, this one's for you!

And now some action from the pommel!
(Also these can be done while knife is sheathed)

Bottle opening.

Nice knife, but no combat for me, mister. I like about 3" blades.
I'm just waiting to hear about you cutting your steak at Outback with that thing.
Fun!
