Okidoki. Here we go. I received these two knives yesterday. The Swamp Warden was with me the entire day today around my neck. A first for me as I dont like carrying a knife like this, but I wanted to give it a try. With a suite as well to a meeting and no problems. So first pictures first.

I dont have a picture of the sheath right now, but it is a simple fold over.

I took the knife to do some basic fuzz sticks.

Did some food prep as well and it functioned as expected. Great.

Second one is the Rodent Solution. I am extremely impressed with this knife's weight, feel in the hand....it is just perfect for me. I did use the standard edge for about 10 minutes and then I took it to some sandpaper on a mouse pad. I prefer convex edges on my fixed blades.

Handle texture is much better then one can see in this picture:

Also used by my mom for some food prep and she was shocked at how great the knife cut. She does straight down cuts rather then a saw action and the knife performed without any complaint.

As one can see both knives handled finer light pressure fuzz curlys easily as well as longer and thicker slices of wood.

At the end, two great new knives that can handle all sorts of chores....best thing is I was invited to go hunting this weekend so these two will see some more use and hopefully I wont forget the pictures!

The RS is such a sleeper, simply outstanding small bussekin. Thanks for the pics

Great pics - thanks for sharing. Awesome cord wrap on the handle of your SW ! ;)

Great pictures marthinus.

What caliber is that you used on the Deer? Looks to be .270?

Thanks for sharing them,
Ian.

Thanks for the kind words!

Damn fine guess! 25-06. I struggled with it. Not my own rifle (our laws are insanely difficult in getting any firearm) so it was not sited in as I would have preferred. Other calibers that were there were 223, 300 and 308.

Great pics. What kind of Deer is that? (sure isn't a whitetail ;) )

The first one pictured is a Springbuck (Springbok). Not a big animal, the second one with where the one guy is touching the eye is an Impala we also shot Blesbuck (Blesbok). These are not the biggest antelope in the country, the latter two are mid size antelope, but still good meat, the heaviest one shot was the Impala at around 85pounds. The biggest antelope we have is an Eland. Male can be over 1500 pounds and are very agile for their size.

25-06 would have been my second guess. :D When the 25-06 first came out it was heralded as being the perfect caliber for Australian plains country, I never did get to own one though. However I did own a .257 Roberts in a Roberts rifle, it was devastating on Roo's, if anything a little too devastating. :D

I love seeing hunting pictures from other countries.

Can you tell us a little about the hunt? Is it a game park? or do you do like here and shoot on private land with the permission of the land holder? Thanks very much for sharing them with us.
Ian.

Ian.

My personal favorite is a .243, most popular seems to be the .306, more so then the 25-06 to my knowledge.

The hunt was on invitation alone on a private farm, the owner is a full time farmer and did allow hunting for a long time, he stopped for a few years and then invited a few of us for the trip. So I am very privileged to say the least! The area is grassland, plains, so distances an be long, over 200m, the 25-06 is accurate to about 250 if you know and understand it.

It is possible to shoot in a national park, but you need a lot of permits etc. This was a farm, with animals, but you do get game farms as well.

If you have any pictures of Australia hunting, please post them. I also appreciate hunting pictures. I have family in Aus, well. they have been there for 4 generations and 2 are farmers outside Perth. Hope to get to Australia some time.

I have an RS and love it! I can't wait to get a SW ( hopefully before they sell out at the store :D ) ! Great pics and thanks for sharing!
