I got this Swiss Army Soldier model 5 or 6 years ago but that's just a small percentage if it's life. Born in 1932 in Switzerland this tough little knife has had a long life and despite showing some age it's a great useful EDC tool. It may be pitted in places and have some old age patina but none of that get's in the way of it being a great knife. If any of you guys haven't handled one of the older Soldiers they are very different from the newer SAKs. With 4mm backsprings and slightly thicker grinds for the main blade they make for a strong slip joint knife. I have been EDCing this on for the past couple of weeks to celebrate it's 80th birthday and it's performed just has good as it's modern relatives. I took it out in the woods today to get some pics to show you guys.
someone sometime ago carved there initials on the backside of the handles. They have since started to ware away.
32 stamped on the back of the blade
despite some pitting and patina the blade still takes a keen edge and cuts like a champ
one of the best awls ever.
Despite it's age it still is in amazing condition. The blade and all the implements snap open with authority. The handle scales even with the cracks in places are still intact and have no movement. All in all I think this knife will be around and be a useful tool for many more years to come.
