Have always liked the grain in sycamore. When I saw Alan Davis list one of his latest folders with dyed sycamore scales ... knew it was for me! He parkerized and stone washed the 3.375" 52100 blade and added a nice deep carry pocket clip. This one is going straight into the EDC rotation!

And ..... even though I suck at taking group photos ..... here a group pic of all of my current Alan Davis knives:

That is beautiful Dennis!

I believe this lost brother (well ... not really lost) belongs in the collection shot ...

There you go .... trying to shame me with your photo skills! ;) That one will always hold a special place in my memories! Great example of Alan's work. But, you know, all of his pieces are great. Each unique .... each with individual character.

Thanks my friend! This new one is already in my pocket and it feels right at home!

Hi Dennis!

Beautiful folder and impressive collection! Do you have a personal favourite? Or is it always the latest addition? ;)

I got my first Davis today and begin to understand why you are hooked... :)

Best regards,
Alex

Hi Dennis!

Beautiful folder and impressive collection! Do you have a personal favourite? Or is it always the latest addition? ;)

You know, that is the toughest question I've been asked lately Alex!!!! Problem is that each and every one of Alan's knives has such a unique personality, that I really love them all. However, if pressed for an answer, I could only narrow it down to my top three.

First would be the one I had him make for me with the specific materials, size and shape I wanted:

Giraffe bone scales, silver twill bolsters, and a Randy Haas Feather pattern Damascus blade.

Second would be this Curly Koa wood folder with beautiful Alabama Damascus blade. There is just something about the way this one melts into my hand with an absolutely perfect feeling.

Third .... but equally beautiful, is this small gentleman's Wharncliffe with Mammoth bark scales and Mokume bolsters. This one never leaves my side, as I carry it every day in a small sheath on my right side!!! Perfect blade for delicate tasks and a real looker!

Now ... the problem with all of this picking is that this top three list will probably change every time I pull them all out to look at them! Fortunately, I try to incorporate each one of them any time I pocket a knife for a special occasion. They make great conversation pieces!

Hello Dennis!

Thanks for the individual shots! I can see why you chose these three! Exquisitely crafted (and photographed)! :)

Best regards,
Alex
