Hi everyone,

I started out wanting to get a custom knife but I just could not find them available for sale. I wrote to one maker and didn't hear back. I am getting frustrated and I still want a nice new knife (I'm sure you understand the feeling).

So, I started looking at production tactical folders. I decided that I wanted a Microtech MTX2 but I couldn't find one of those for sale either! I went back to the search and developed this list.

My priorities are: high-quaility, grippy, tough, not too much "printing" in the pocket. I also prefer framelock and a non-black spear point or clip point blade. Ok, so it's obvious that I am not going to get all of these in one knife.

Now, forget about everything I said... which of these is the most awesome knife...

Buck/Strider 882 SBTG
Combat Elite RRF
Microtech MTX2 MA
MOD ATFK
Ontario XM-1
Strider PT

Nick

Out of those, I like the look of the Combat Elite RRF the best, but I have never held any of them. I'm a sucker for Darrel Ralph designes...

I don't see a Benchmade Skirmish or Mini-Skirmish on your list....

And Al Mar SERE 2000? Chris Reeve Sebenza? Spyderco Manix, Mini-Manix, Police, Military, and Paramilitary?

I like the MOD and the RRF myself, most especially the RRF. The others don't do anything for me, except for the PT. Now THAT'S a nice knife ... but are you sure you want one that small? The Strider SnG is more the size of the others on your list.

What about the Cam Dominator? Seems like the right size based on your list and its a frame lock with a clip point blade.

Gosh... I am sooooo impulsive. I just ordered an RRK Black G10 on Black frame. I think that I will be very, very happy. Did I say VERY HAPPY! :D

The Striders are flippin great, unstoppable. The Buck/strider is a really nice quality knife for the money, but dont try to compare it to the real thing. I just decided to go with the Spyderco Manix. I would try not to count that out.

1.Combat Elite RRF, because I LOVE Darrell Ralph's designs!! & 2.Strider PT!!

Ermerson CQC series should be on the list as the Lone Wolf T2 Harsey. I've got a CQC-10 and like it a lot.

You guys are recommending a lot of great knives, but some of them are way out of line with what Nick was looking at:

My priorities are: high-quaility, grippy, tough, not too much "printing" in the pocket. I also prefer framelock and a non-black spear point or clip point blade.
