Folks,

Late thursday, Bruce, my local route UPS driver presented me with a package sent by Sal Glesser. Inside was a C36GPE Military folder. Sal has generously graced me with this knife for being the first to post to his forums here.

Sal, it is a truely awesome blade. The gang here who have been spreading the word and converting folks to the "military man" club have not understated how well built this knife is. The edge is perfectly ground and razor sharp. Lockup is tight and secure. The ergonomics are great. I really like the new three screw clip and the way you've hidden titanium liners in the G-10 scales. It makes for a slim, strong, effective piece.

I had wanted to post my thanks as soon as possible. So today I had a quick series of photos taken. Originally I wanted to have some B-1B bombers from the base where I work serve as a backdrop. But today was a down day with the military off as a reward for productivity goals met. So the folks that I'd have to clear the shot with were unavailable as were the planes. They'd been buttoned up.

I am very, very appreciative of your generosity. The knife will be put to good use I can assure you!

Well here's my grizzled old mug holding that great knife:

Again, my THANKS!!!!

Hi Bob - glad that we can finally call you a fellow "Military Man"
smile.gif
I know for sure that you'll be very pleased with the performance of the GPE in the long run. I have said it before and will say it again: the Military models are among the best production folders I have used and am proud to own. Looks like we need to get you a Military Man shirt if and when we get some made up

Enjoy!

Congradulations Bob, but I think I'm gonna have to post a pic of me so we can argue about who is truely a "bald1".

I know you'll enjoy the Military, I recently got one myself and it's everything all our fellow forumites said it was.

Dexter,

Glad to be aboard

! Anxiously awaiting the fruits of Gene and your collaboration on the "military man" T-shirt!

Brian,

Don't let that beard fool ya

! All that was ever on top migrated south.... I could relate some of the theories advanced by some salty old warrent officers as to how I came to be so shiney on top, but this is a family forum

Bob who insists that his barbers stock caranuba wax and provide a buff 'n shine to compensate for only cutting a few square inches of turf for the price of a regular haircut!

Welcome aboard Bob, I know you'll love your Military as much as I love mine.

We'll get that T-shirt ready for you!

-30 below and 65MPH winds today in Kodiak. All Knife Nuts in shorts and Tee's send some heat up this way!

Bob,
Great pic and great knife. Why is it that all you bald guys can grow such great beards? Hey, keep that blade a little further away from your paw. Wouldn't want "first blood" so soon. Don't worry, Dex and I are gonna' make sure the "Military Man" tees come to fruition. USE this knife. It's one that'll shrivel up and die if you don't.

Greg,
I work outside all day and today was a balmy 15 with 40 mph winds. Almost put my shorts and t-shirt on. Had my Military to keep me warm.

Gene,

You're absolutely correct about the way in which the Military's blade deploys. It is slick and built to take punishment. I don't understand why there is so much fuss about the choil. I find I can choke up just fine. The older version simply had grooves there which shouldn't make any difference in handling for detail work.

Sal and his gang is to be applauded for allowing us easy means for disassembly when needed (unlike "those other guys" who void warranties if you pop 'em open). Let's face it, this model was mean to be used, and used hard in tough environments. Accordingly situations will undoubtedly arise where cleaning requires disassembly.

As for drawing blood...nah. My Spydie Santuko drew enough last week to last me for a while
smile.gif
! The photo above seems to show the blade resting on my hand but it's just an illusion because of the angle. The puppy is sharp and I really do know better <hehehehe>!

Oh BTW it was in the high 40s here today with gentle winds of 10 to 15 mph. You guys just don't understand what the Black Hills are like <grin>!!!

Lookin' forward to that T-shirt.
