Hey Guys,

Finally finished my third custom knife, the Prime-1. It's a bolster lock (my first time) with the following:

Chad Nichols Blackout damascus in a harpoon blade 4"

6al-4v Ti frame in a heavy orange peel finish

Custom machined pivot, mirror polished

heavy orange peeled and polished backspacer and hand ground clip

Blackood CF scales.

The action is extremely smooth and snappy.

I learned quite a bit on this build but still have to eliminate some errors. I have to improve a lot more before I can sale a knife but this was a good step. Wish I could post a video of the action but you can check it out on my IG page for a video if interested. Thanks everyone for the support!

Beautiful knife. Really nice. If you aren't ready to sell, I'll take it for free! :D

Looks great! One thing that I see is that the screws placement seems odd? They don't quite line up with each other, and the knife, imo. Is there a mechanical reason for that? Or simply an asthmatics, personal choice thing?

its just an aesthetic thing. On most bolsters and liners you hide the screws under the scale with a countersick. I was going for a more mechanical look so decided to show them like a framelock.

Fantastic work, my friend. This is my first time seeing your work, and I'm thoroughly impressed. I'll be keeping you in mind for my next custom knife purchase.

Mike, the piece looks good, really good. Congrats on successfully finishing up another one. Don't stop making them. :)

Good job Brother!

Care to shed some light on your process? Are you using CNC/milling, outsourcing, handmade? Same for blades; hand ground, outsourced? Are you making these in your garage, basement, workshop?

I'm intrigued to know how you got started, as I've wanted to try this myself and am not sure where to start.

Do a WIP chronology on your next build.

I hand make the knives in my garage. I started building my workshop 9 months ago, guy taught how to make knives from Frank Fischer and started buying all my equipment. I design them in CAD, then make templates and then make everything by hand, including free hand grinding the blade. It's a pretty daunting task and takes a long time to get anywhere decent. I've probably destroyed 30 test blades grinding just to get something that wasn't horrible...
