It's really amazing how much you learn with each knife you make and it actually does get a little easier and less frusterating.

Man I need to come work with you, if you can learn to do work like that just after 3 folders, they are fantastic. I can't imagine what they'll look like after the next 3. Keep it up.

Heres the particulars for the folder;
Devin Thomas raindrop damascus blade, heat treated by Rob Simonich.
Devin Thomas ladder damascus bolsters.
Mastadon ivory scales, thanks to Alan Folts.
.090 ti liners.
416 stainless spacer, thanks to Art Washburn.
9 1/2" overall.
4 1/8" by 1 1/4" by 3/16" blade.
5 1/2" closed.

The fighter;
440c blade heat treated by Rob Simonich.
416 stainless dovetailed bolsters.
Burl maple scales.
10 1/2" overall.
6" by 3/16" blade.
 
fantastic! the fighter really catches my eye. looks like it would melt into you hand!
 
Mike, I love the way you did the finger groove on the fighter, it sure is a beauty, upside down or not. ;)

The folders I've seen from you look great, and I have to admire your daring for using the materials you have on your second and third folders. I have to admit if it were me I'd be using more basic stuff for my first dozen folders, but then again I don't have the years of experiance that you do making fixed blades.

My compliments to you on some fine work.
 
Those are both great looking knives, Michael! I am very curious about the finger groove/cutout on the fighter. Am I seeing it right? It is cut on the right side of the bolster for the index finger? That is really cool. Would think it has the potential to provide a very secure grip. Never seen that before.

Very,very nice on both accounts.I'm just preparing the immigration papers on that fighter. :D
