Good day everyone,

Although I have been very busy lately with work, I still find time to work on several projects, one of which I recently finished.
This is my third knife that I made, and i must say that I'm very proud of it.:D
I called it the ''Amazon Skinner'' because I thought it looked kind of tropical with the zebrawood handle scales.

The knife is made out of 3mm D2 steel.
Zebrawood handle with stainless steel pins.
The knife overall is 18cm long, with a 9,5cm long handle
hardened to 60 HRC

Your opinions are much appreciated,
Greetings,
Thomas

That's great for a third knife or even one further along. The swooping lines look good and give it flow and personality, while still being useful.

I see what looks like a belt hit on the left ricasso area on the plunge cut. Some makers cut a mini choil at the plunge/edge junction to help keep that from happening.

Other than that, I'd be proud of that one as well.

Oh, and always try to find a background that will not take focus from your blades.

Thank you for the advice!

That was indeed a belt hit.
I think I understand what you mean with that mini choil.
But I don't understand how that will stop belt hits.

It terminates the edge bevel farther away from the plunge line edge, thus allowing you to sharpen the edge while staying a bit further away from the plunge. Another way to do it is pay attention to the angle you're holding the knife as you draw it across the belt. Even with the very, very small choil like areas I grind into my blades, I sometimes get very close to the plunge cut. Thankfully when I'm sharpening I'm using belts that are non aggressive and won't take too much of a bite out of the blade.

This thread has some good pics of what I'm talking about. Some makers use them, some don't. I wouldn't make it too large as it could cause issues.
