Now that I have my new oven, this is my first stainless. She is of ATS-34, hand ground to 2000 grit then buffed with Matchless green compound. Still haven't tryed tapering any tangs yet but the tang is well milled out to lesson weight.

I Hope this one is liked.

Many thanks again to all you who help me try to learn this stuff.

Anyhow, here's the pics: http://riflestocks.tripod.com/pics2.html

You're putting a lot of us to shame here, Roger! That is beautiful. Are you ever going to do anything that will qualify for the ugliest knife contest?;)

Well....I guess it's not too bad for your 3rd knife  ....I think your pulling my leg Rodger.

Peter, check out Roger's website sometime, you'll see where this is coming from ... This guy just oozes craftsmanship! And has the classics down pat.

Roger, trust me when I say it's time to start tapering your tangs. You have nothing to worry about! Beautiful knife, nice finish. And you're smart to go straight to stainless for your fittings. Fantastic! Thanks sharing, you're really getting it on. I'm gonna go ahead and pack it all in now... :D

Beautiful knife! You picked a great maker to emulate also. At Blade any number of people were selling off part of their private collections and I got to handle a D'Holder and it was sweet. It was one of his models with the handle made with sections of differing materials. You'r putting the rest of us newer makers to shame Roger!

I'm becoming a tapered tang convert also (actually I'm just tired of drillling holes!):D

:D :D :D Peter I know just what you mean! Roger, if I start building a rifle my wife will shoot me with it!

Many big thanks fellows. You continue to encourage me.

Okay, I am going to break down and taper a tang. Next knife for sure this time. I'll try it out. Having enough trouble learning the blade grind. Can hardly wait til I scape up enough bucks to get a descent belt grinder.
