I finally got the bevel grinding down, which I was having trouble with on my first 2 tries. I was using a file and sandpaper trying to make nice flat grinds but this time I decided to try the grinder again and after a couple hours I got it! :)

I'm trying to make more of a tactical design this time and wanted to use micarta for the handles.
OAL is 9 1/2" and blade is just over 4 1/2", made from 440C which I finally got from Super Alloys (thanks for the referral guys!)

let me know what you think!

If anyone has some scraps or micarta slabs 1 1/2" x 5" (preferably thick enough to contour) they are willing to part with for really cheap (I'm on a really tight budget  ) let me know, I would like to finish this knife soon

hmmmmm, I was afraid of that...
I'm hosting it from my own pc, I'll try to get that fixed asap. :o

edit: should be working now, if u still can't see anything try this link and click on gallery/knives...

well it will have 4 in total when I'm done putting the false edge on it, I was touching it up tonight and "rolled" the knife when I was doing the flats, took the bevel line right off...grrrrrrr...so I had to grind it flat and start over on one side, I got it back to the same on both sides, after many hours of creative cursing....
I probably should have just walked away and left it till tomorrow but I just wanna finish this one.

wish me luck with the rest of it! lol :D

I agree with RR; look forward to seeing it completed.

lol I agree with you both and can't wait to see it either :D :D :D
I'm doing the false edge tonight, man I hope I don't mess it up again.....

Looks good to me. All I could say in "criticism" is to make the finger notch in the handle deeper. About twice that would make me happy, but to each his own. Can't wait to see it finished!

well the edge didn't come out exactly as planned but I think I can save it...
one minute I think I have the grinding process down, then I go and screw it up. :(

one thing I did notice is that the belt removes stock a lot fater on the outer edges, so if I stop for even a second it makes the grind go uneven.

I do plan on making the notch a little deeper but wanted to keep this one shallow, the first one was kind of uncomfortable with the deep notch.

I won't be able to work on it again for at least another week, I start 12 hr shifts tomorrow at 6 am :grumpy:

Looks good to me, nice shape.
"one minute I think I have the grinding process down, then I go and screw it up." Welcome to the club! I've turned more than one 10" bowie into a 4" hunter! :D
