Thanks for that, John, I had no idea that such a service was available from Benchmade. I can see a custom Grip in my future.

You're most welcome - I think this new offering from Benchmade is fairly under the radar at this point. I think they're going slow with it.

Cool concept. Some other models would be cool too. The price is a bit steep IMO. Though the benefit obviously being a truly customized and possibly unique knife. The ability to put an image on the blade is very cool, though can only imagine what that looks like at this point.

Thanks for the link, no clue they were doing this.

Great video, I enjoyed it a lot. Why can't Benchmade offer some slimmer G10 scales for it? That would make it such an awesome EDC blade for me. For $100+ I wouldn't expect FRN handles. Just let us pay a little extra for g10, Benchmade!

I guess some brave sole will have to try and image on their custom Grip and post it for us to see. :D

My only problem is that the shipping is via UPS, which rapes Canadians with their bogus 'brokerage fee'. :grumpy:

How much does it wind up being? Cheaper to run it through a fellow BF member, ie. ship it to one of us to then ship it to you?

IDK, for the price there are better knives. That or you could save a bunch, buy a stock griptilian and possibly send it out to a place in Canada. Probably have a better idea of what the engraving would be too!

Not only is there a brokerage fee but you also have to deal with UPS and their terrible delivery service. Every package that's been delivered to me via UPS has been a total nightmare.   USPS ---> Canada Post is the only way to go.

This is pretty cool, except now i have a feeling I'm going to have a whole bunch of Griptilians

G10, yes... all they need is another little 'radio button' that says-

HANDLE MATERIAL
*FRN
*G10 (+$15)

Or however much the incremental costs would be.

Definitely a +1 on that one....

I had seen the website feature and played with it, but your video is fun to watch. Nice work!

It also would go a long way toward making the ordering process more user-friendly, although maybe this is not aimed at people who need coaching at this point.

Another 'bug' in an otherwise great page is that there is at least one general configuration that you can conjure up but can't order...did you find that group? ;) That's not a complaint about the Benchmade page, by the way (even though it probably sounds like one).

I am very tempted by the royal blue scales and a hole-opener blade in S30V. :)

To put it into perspective, I ordered two knives for $50 each, and ended up paying a $40 'brokerage' fee in addition to the $20 shipping! FedEx is no better. Via USPS I 'sometimes' pay a $5 brokerage fee with $15 shipping.
