As I said in previous posts, I didn't love my large micarta Insingo when I first got it and was wondering if I would want to carry it more than my trusty para 2. I quickly got over that and "got it". Not to say that I don't carry the para 2 anymore but I usually do that when a $400.00 knife isn't something I want to have with me or when the mood strikes me. My Sebenza has become my (mostly) daily carry. I use my knives daily, albeit very light duty stuff (no boxes or zipties on a regular basis or anything). I usually use it for cutting open packaging, cutting up some salmon treats for my little 16 year old dachshund, string, food prep, etc. Regular around the house stuff. This is the same stuff I use my para 2 on when I carry it. After a little over 2 weeks I am thoroughly impressed and continue to get more and more impressed with it every day. The knife rides amazingly in my pocket, I carry it in the sheath when I don't want a clip sticking out of my pocket, mainly at work (office environment). I clip it to my pants when I am not and it just disappears until I need it. It does everything the para 2 does and some things better. The point on the para 2 is useful I suppose but I don't miss it for what I usually cut day to day when I have my Sebenza. You all know about the tolerances, how it feels in the hand, the smoothness, etc.
I bought it lightly used and it still looks brand new. The knife was said to have the factory edge when I bought it and the fact that it wasn't very sharp bugged me. So, I bought a loaded strop bat with black, green, pink compounds and bare leather for the 4th side. I have to say, after a little use, 3 runthroughs the strop bat over the last couple of weeks and a little improvement in my technique and it easily shaves hair. Dare I say it is as sharp as the M4 Gayle Bradley I had prior and I didn't think a knife could possibly be sharper than that by my hand. Now, the only thing that bugged me about the Sebenza is no longer an issue. I can easily say that I have no remorse whatsoever for getting this knife. I changed the lanyard to a leather one tied the same way as the paracord lanyard came from the factory but I made it a little shorter (opinions welcome). Still debating keeping it on, or tying a different one with some square suede lanyard material or getting a bead and trying something new. Maybe I will take it off together, who knows? Ok, enough of me rambling, time for some pics.
The glowing thing on the blade is my thumb reflecting the sun light through the window and is me giving you all a thumbs up
