It is amazing. I hope they can tie a bow on it in the next 48 hours. The longer it drags out, the nastier the public mood will get.

I guess I am from the old school. Look at what happened in the NY state Senate race.

Just too weird, atc.

I hope the server gets fixed and we can continue dealing with HIKV.

As an outside observer, seems to me that one of the few bright spots in an otherwise pretty dismal picture is Bill and Rusty's new junior senator, Mr Ensign... Sounds like a good man. Only goes to show what excellent taste and judgement y'all have in Nevada!

re: Ensign in NV.

GOA only gave him a B. That's better than the "F-" they gave Feinstein but I would still rather see senators with an A rating. Maybe a B is all we can hope for from a state that close to California. The craziness tends to creep over the border in every direction.

A couple years back, they sneaked a change in the boundary between Nevada and it's neighboring states thru the legislature to "clarify" things.

( Seems the accepted specs on the boundary, when measured with new and more accurate instrumentation put Las Vegas in Kali or AZ ).

Those of us outside the Vegas would have floated a bond to pay ANYONE to take Vegas off our hands. Like the folks outside Chicago would like to give it to some other state.

Vegas and Chicago are unrepresentative of the rest of the population of their states.

Uncle Bill, if you think Vegas is a world unto itself, think back to your time in Louisiana, a state that prides itself on being a Bannana Republic. As an example of how totally corrupt, misguided, and ignorant our entire state government is (and the citizens for keeping them in office) consider this: Because our state constitution prohibits gambling in any form, a few years back the Louisiana legislature asked voters to amend the constitution to allow gambling. The voters rejected the admendment, so the legislature, by legislative decree, simply redefined the state's legal definition of gambling -- now, all games-of-chance involving money are legally considered "gaming" instead of "gambling." So, in Louisiana, we now have more forms of legalized gambling than any other state, including Nevada, but we call it "gaming" because our state constitution still prohibits any and all forms of gambling. If you ever want to visit a third-world country but can't afford to leave the U.S., come to Louisiana!

Any state that one or more really large metropolitan areas tend to be dominated by those cities -- and the cities always have a different agenda than smaller towns and rural areas. Let's see:

New York -- New York City
Pennsylvania -- Philadelphia
Massuchusetts (sp?) -- Boston
Florida -- Miami
Washington -- Seattle
California -- L.A., San Francisco, San Diego
Nevada -- Vegas (apparently)
Illinois -- Chicago

See the trend? One exception appears to be Texas.

thought I'd bring this back up. Make that the strangest month. As to the large cities dominating their states, has anyone else seen a precinct by precinct map of the presidential results? ALGORE carried about 4% of the area of the US and still won the popular vote. What does this mean you ask? CITY FOLK ARE TOO SHELTERED FROM REALITY TO MAKE RATIONAL POLITICAL DECISIONS!!!!!
