Well I was able to compare my Storm 2, JunkYard Dog 2, and Lahar today. I have not been able to do any cutting so it is all first impression stuff and I have to say I like all three and would buy all three over again.
Lahar:
*Sharpest of the three (which were all very sharp)
* I like the fact that it had the thumb stud and the hump on the bottom of the blade to open it.
* It fit my hand the best out of the three and I like how the thumb rests better on the Lahar out of the three.
* I also liked how the liner locked on the Lahar the best although the Lahar does have the thinnest liners out of the three.
* Fit and finish was Superb as on all three.
* This is the first time I have had G-10 scales on a knife and so far they seem very nice.
* VG-10 what can I say except nothing since I have not cut any thing with it yet.
* The clip on the Lahar is nice and low key.
I would love to have an American made version made out of the same steel as the Storm and JYD and with grey scales.
Junkyard Dog 2:
As others have said this thing is built like a tank.
* The liners seemed to be the thickest out of the three on this one.
*I like how the blade has no curves so it will probably be esier to sharpen.
*The grip is very comfortable and it opened veary easy.
*My youngest son (15) liked the clip on this one the best because he felt it actualy enhanced the feel of the grip on the knife. It is a little big in my opinion.
* Me and both my sons liked the grey scales on the JYD2 the best out of the three.
* The blade is very sharp out of the box.
* I wish it had so sort of thumb stud or something also.
Storm 2
It is hard to believe you can get an American made knife of this quality for $31.
* The handle of course seems thin but I kind of like that.
* The combo edge seems to still give you plenty of belly still for cutting with the regular edge so that is a plus also.
* I like how the back of the grip is actualy open so I can take some caned air or rem oil and clean it all out since I got this particular knife as a work knife and it will get its fair share of lint and dirt in it.
*Price
* I like the thumb studs on the storm 2 the best. The way they are sort of slanted is what I like.
Great knives all in all so far. My main folder for years has been a CS Voyager that I still like but the Lahar will probably take its place as a carry knife.
