Well, I did the swap and ended up with a Ti framelock Leek with an S30V blade problem is the lock bar is too short for this particular blade. My older S30V Leek blade (Mar '06) appear to have a longer blade-lockbar contact area but have yet to try again with this other blade. Apparently the contour has changed between March 06 and July 07, which are the two S30V blades I have. Any light?

Ok, out of curiosity I just took my Mar 06 S30V blade and put it in my TiZDP scales....everything went together well and it locked up nice and tight. I don't have a newer blade to try out. Maybe Thomas can chime in on this. Out of all the mixing and matching of various Leeks I have, they've all change out fine. The G10 scales the 06 blade came out of has been sporting the original CKT Random Leek plain edge blade that has been my EDC until I got the TiZDP Leek.

Like I suspect, probably my Mar '06 Blade works. But it is used heavily (its my EDC now). I will need a NOS (new old stock) S30V Leek blade.

Anybody has an idea where might I find an older S30V Leek and... up until which production month the blades might fit?

I will try to trade my newer production one.

The three knives I used for the Random FrankenLeek all seemed to interchange pretty well. The Random Leek and the CKST were both Jun '07 and the T1G10 was from Nov '06. The locks from all three seem to engage perfectly.

From my own experiences with changing Leek blades and scales around and reading others like keedeep..I'm pretty sure they all have the same blade geometries. I know Kershaw checks all there knives for secure lockups....Yours may have had a slight lockup issue and was ground a little smaller for a secure lockup. Just a thought. Thomas could probably give a better explaination for this.

I am not sure then. I'll try to find an older one and try one more time. I want a cool Ti S30V Leek

*** Lockup is perfect on the original frame for all knives, the problem is when I mix and match. My Leeks came from factory with perfect lockup.

What I meant was maybe they had to grind a little extra on your 07 Leek at the factory to get it to lockup right...which would cause it to not fit in the Ti scales. It's just a guess.....Soon as i get my hands on one of the new Leeks with the Sandvic steel I'll give that a try on my Ti scales. This has me curious as well.

Hello
I need some help. Some of you guys are thinking the same way that I am and I would like to draw on your experience. I have 2 ti zdp leeks, I bought these after losing my beloved ats34 minireflex (best edc I ever had). Well the zdp is very dissapointing will not take a razor edge no mater what. I have tried 17; 20; and 25 degree bevels, tried diamond; synthetic; and arkansas stones used a lansky as well as bench stones nothing works.
I have over 40 hrs of polishing in on this project and no results. My other knives will all take a razors edge without exception, so I am at a point of terminal frustration but I like the form factor of the knife as well as the warncliff blade so I am pondering the possibility of switching the zdp for s30v (my spare edc has s30v and will hold an edge so sharp just looking at it might damage your eye sight)

So I guess the question is Do the blades interchange?
How do I disassemble the knife without damaging it?

(Yes I tore up the screws moving the pocket clip But a late night trip to wally world and a donor scallion fixed the problem)

And finally is it worth the effort or would I be better of dumping the 1660tizdp's in favor of a sebenza or mnandi?

Again help I like the knife I just need it to be sharp, or as my grandfather said "If it ain't sharp its just a chunk of metal"

Thanks for your help

I am in the process of switching blades.... I am figuring out which dates work like mentioned above. Will update when complete.

Update
Just in case anyone cares I made th switch from the zdp blade to the s30v blade, love it!
Gots my 3 inch pocket scalpel back. ( More jubilation than you can shake a stick at! )
As for diassembly of the knife itself, kershaw makes a tool just for this it is a little torx wrench about the size of a key chain and it works great. You can use a little lock tight to seat the screws if you want, just to make sure that they do not back out.

Also I found that if I did not lubricate the spring or bronze(?) bushings the knife opened and closed much easier and quicker, now remember this is with the Ti scales the stainless and aluminum ones may behave differently.

Just incase any one wants to know the dates, the blade is a mar 07 and the scales are apr 07.

Next project damascus blade in a black gold body mabey even with a mop inlaid front.

well my zdp damascus leek is done-

its real sweet-;)

made a zdp stainless leek from the parts and put it up for trade:D
