is the DART out yet? know how/where I can get them? what about the pricing?

I have a couple of TOPS ( Night Chaser and a hell I can't remember the model) in 1095. I like the steel, easy to field sharpen, take and holds a good edge. I have had it out fishing for 6 or 7 days of constant use (camp chores, clean fish ect). No problems, but you'll want to keep the blades oiled in a wet or humid environment.

i too have the DART. very nice knife. S30V steel and the micarta handles r very confortable.

S4 Supply has them... not sure if they r in stock though.

jskim... u in Saskatchewan?

I have lived South Korea. price is very different from America's.
I thought the price included some customs duties, profit of knife shop, etc.

in a blade that size, how does S30V compare to carbon steels, in this case 1095??

my korean is pretty rusty, but here goes:

un young has say yo!

good to meet a fellow korean! ;) :D

S30V is currently my favorite STAINLESS STEEL. 1095 is a good basic carbon steel, but without the proper maintanence, rust will form in pretty short order. 1095 is good for larger blades where chopping and shock r an issue, but i have heard good things about S30V in regards to chopping. both steels will hold an edge for a good long time, but ease of sharpening goes to 1095. there have been custom knifesmiths who have made knives as large as the DART and had very satisfying results. i don't have the links to the threads, but the DART is a Trace Rinaldi design called the Warhawk and is available in S30V from the maker himself. i would say that the DART will hold up to a lot of use, and abuse, and will last a lifetime if treated well. i like mine a lot, but i have not been able to test it in the field... love the large recurve fixed blades. :D hope this helps... if u have another question, i'll try and answer, but i'm sure other more knowledgeable forum members will be able to help too.

Anyone have or try a Tops Paysayten "Light Traveler"?
Cryo treated 154cm, double drawn and heat treated by Paul Bos.
Has my mouth watering!

The DART is the first knife TOPS has ever made from S30V, and it is also heat treated by Paul Bos, so you KNOW its done right..
There has been ALOT of good feedback on this design from some pretty heavy duty folks. I'm very pleased with this project.

The DART is based off the Warhawk design, but has been changed quite a bit.

Mr. Rinaldi,

can u tell us what changes were made in comparison to ur Warhawk and the DART? pretty please!!! :D

Basically the changes are in the handle area... The DART has one finger cuttout instead of two, and the handle drops a few degree's compared to the Warhawk. The pommel is different, and the lower guard is more rounded too... The blade grind is also slightly different. Thats about it..

THANKS! i appreciate the info! someday i will have to place an order for the Warhawk... love some of ur other designs too!

Trace, i just about sh*t in my pants when i saw you knives
how come i never saw your knives before? where have i been all this time? i have always loved the TOPS knives designed by you but TOPS uses 1095 which i'm not crazy over. But you use 3V :)

anyway, my question is does paul bos do the heat treat on the CPM 3V as well???

i just broke the bank on a blade, but that armageddon is looking SO tasty right about now! are there any differences between the TOPS version and your custom version?

madfast Paul Bos does HT CPM 3V, and its pretty awesome stuff.. There are differences in the handle on the TOPS version.. I try to use more contouring in my handles.. I am not currently taking orders for knives, but you can get on my mailing list if you like. I can let you know when something is available or when I can build a knife for you.. Thanks for the kind words.

Does anyone have any feedback on the TOPS B.E.S.T. (Black Eagle Strike Team) Hunters point? It's 154cm heat treated by Paul Bos as well.
