None of the above. I like wood on a sebbie, but I don't care for art knives.

i prefer a BM710 over all of those.

they're pretty to look at, but I don't like knives that are too nice to use. Makes me feel like I wasted my money.

The fancy engravings don't do much for me, nor do the colored metal parts. But I do love damascus and exotic natural materials. The coral and mammoth are incredible!

Thanks for the pics!
-Bob

The fixed blade....but I wouldn't buy it unless I had more money than God. It's the lesser of the evils presented. I fully appreciate the time and patience necessary to create art pieces......they just don't float my boat when it comes to the "I wanna" factor!:D

I like the red coral and the jade inlay. They are all very nice dress knives. The Sidney Moon seems the most practical, but I really like that first one with the wire inlay.

If $1000+ for a knife was well within my budget and wouldn't be missed, I'd probably be in situations where a dress knife would be appropriate and the purchase would be justified anyway.

In such a case as I could justify one of these, I would have to go with Zaza Revishvili's. It's more attractive to me than the others because its elegance is subtle, modest, and dignified. Flashy and bright doesn't do it for me, but that one is a bullseye.

If I had to pick one it would be the second. I wouldn't want any of them though. Too foo foo for me. No offense.

For me it would have to be the one by ZaZa. I've admired his work for some time and have known him since 2001. The knife is sleek and tasteful, but the real thing that attracts me to that knife is the wire inlay. I've seen ZaZa's wire work on 1911 handle scales and it is just amazing.

Wow... they're all truly works of art. If I had the $$$, I'd take them all. But I'd never use one in the field unless I had no choice. Art is art and belongs in a collection and/or museum. Were I wealthy enough, I'd have knife art collections AND collections of production peices that I wouldn't be afraid to carry and use daily. For my eyes (and wallet), Kershaw knives are works of art that are great (and inexpensive) tools.

BTW... thanks for sharing those pics. And the Johnny Stout is probably my favorite. I dream of being wealthy enough that I could have two of each made... one for the collection and one for carrying. Heck, I wish I could afford to buy a second Rainbow Leek and Chive so I could carry them daily. They just look too nice for me to want to carry them and scratch them all up. I get stainless Kershaws for carrying.

Wow, thanks so much for the most detailed and beautiful post!:) I must confess that my budget does not permit me to consider collecting or carrying such specimens. However, I do believe that I could get used to doing so. The trouble is in picking only one so I'll pick 3 in order of preference:
1. Bill Ankrom: artistic, but bold and not too busy. The maple burl compliments the engraved bolsters most handsomely. The Damascus blade and backspacer are unusually crafted. The spirograph Damascus speaks loudly but let's be daring here! The gold liners add a nice touch. All that said though the size and breadth of the handle just looks like my hand would like to carry it.;)
2. Johnny Stout: a close 2nd. The Mammoth ivory is just so fine and the bronze/gold pins and stud touch off the accents in the ivory. "Hot blue" blade contrasted with "Fire blue" bolsters is both subtle and striking and look at the shaping of that bolster! Gotta love the recurve blade also. ;)
3. Zaza Revishvili: It's big! and I love the blade shape. The sterling floral design inlay adds a touch of delicacy to an otherwise yeoman walnut handle. Once again, the marriage of the differing Damascus textures and designs on the bolsters and blade is superb.;)

Thanks again Seb, for the patrician menu! BTW, I love my BM710 also, but if anybody wants to consider trading one of the above for one of my 710's I would be most happy to consider it :D . Just to show how nice I am I'd throw in a little cash (and a Kershaw) too!!

Wow, some beautiful knives, thanks for the post. If I wuz rich, I would buy all of them and use them

If I was wealthy enough to afford those custom beauties I would feel no remorse in using them. Any knife can be replaced by a custom specialist if you've got the bread.

I admit that I have several "drawer queens" that are pampered in my sock drawer but only because I fear that if I abused them too much it would be too expensive to replace them.

I pull them out occasionally just to admire their beauty and play around with flikking them open just for the fun of it. But they rest esconced comfortably the rest of the time next to my soft cushiony socks.

Most of my others I edc on a rotating basis and are used as necessary.

I really like your Bill Akrom model with the absoutely perfect damascus blade complemented by the very beautiful burlwood scales - when I saw it it was love at fisrt sight.

I'm with Phil.

I like ZaZa's the best with the Stout and Moulton a very close tie for second.
All three show a lot of care in design and flow from end to end. I would hate to have to actually decide between those three.

LOYD McCONNELL. LARGE RED CORAL TWO BLADE TRAPPER all the way man! I am sick of one handed openers, and liner and frame locks. I have renewed my passion for slipjoints, and that one would be the cream of the crop in my collection.

All of them are beautiful in their own right , but Johnny Stout is my fave.
Even if I had the cash though I doubt I would buy them , well maybe... who knows... hehe :p

I would take the one from ZaZa!! Love that blade shape. Oh yeah, and I would use it!

Tom
