My trip to blade west

I would have to say my reason for going to blade west was to meet the folks from Busse and the forum rather than buying knives. I had little money (spent most of what i had on food and alcohol) and i had no regrets. I had a great time and the people who showed up were top notch.

After arriving late friday i met a lot of people that put faces to names and had an excellent time at dinner afterwards. Saturday i was at the show all day, met more folks, and tried to stay out of the way of the people behind the counter selling knives. My original intention was to help behind the table, but there was already quite a few people there doing a fine job. I wandered around between the busse and oink tables and had a good time just talking knives with the folks there (too many to list).

Just as a side note i got there friday quite late and jerry hadn't arrived yet. He did almost at closing time. On saturday he had a meeting to attend and didn't arrive at the table till a few hours after the show opened. On both days it was like lightning struck when he hit the table. I must say he definately knows his business and is a super guy to talk with. Those who have only talked with him on the net need to meet him in person. I wish i could have spent more time awake at blade west, but those who needed more than 4 hours of sleep need not apply (i'm not worthy).

Sunday i went to breakfast with spearhead, kassi, shaggi, karona and nemmy(thanks again for picking up my tab les) and then said goodbyes to those that were left. I wished good luck to those seeking nuclear payload glory and then jumped in my truck with spearhead for the trip north.

I dropped spearhead in the bay area with only a bottle cap, piece of string and a toothpick. I'm waiting to see if he finds his way back to alaska.

Thanks again all for the great trip!

P.S. The folder exists, i saw and held it along with a few others. It's nice.

P.P.S. I met so many great folks in ontario i wouldn't want to start naming names in case i forgot anyone. You guys all made it quite an experience and i'm glad those that made it did. I had a great time.

:D

Scott-
Les was last seen hitch-hiking east with a band of commie hippie types from Bezerkley. From the signs, it looked like they were going to demonstrate against free speech and white rabbits. It may be some time before we hear from him again because the bottle cap was no-where to be seen.

As funny as that sounds, it doesn't surprise me at all.

:D

P.S. Glad we finally got to meet carl after talking on the srkw survival forums for awile. It was excellent to meet you and hopefully it won't be the last time. Considering you live like 15 min from me (who would have thought) maybe we might bump into each other at target. :D ;)

Hi Scott
Good to meet you at Blade West send me a e-mail please.

Hey TOINK!!!!!!!!!!

It was great meeting you at Blade! Glad to hear you had a great time. I just spoke to Les on the phone this morning so he is still alive!!!:D

Later,
Shaggi;)

No dice men. I dumped the hippie-types when I discovered that they were lying about the virtues of granola. The bottle cap was missing because I had to eat something and it looked tastier and more substantial than the string. In retrospect, I should have gone with the toothpick.

As it turns out, I decided to save the rest of my survival kit (the afore mentioned toothpick and string) and just eat the hippies instead. They were nearly worthless as foodstuff but they were even worse company. Believe it or not, they taste worse than they smell.

The bottom line is this... I am back in AK and doing fine (give or take some peace/love/drugs induced indigestion) and am drinking as much beer as I can to kill the memory of that ill fated plan hatched in the bay.

It was terrific to meet Survivoink, Evoloink, and Toink and I hope to get together with you guys all again soon.

Scott, thanks again for the lift.:D

Scott-
drop me a line at cj_7@mindspring.com to trade particulars. Great meeting you.

Les-
Glad you came to your senses and found your way home. Ya are what ya eat, ya know.... :barf: I'd have stayed with the bottle cap and string, using the toothpick as a weapon (seeing as how it is the only one you can carry onto a plane). Enjoyed putting a face to your name.

Carl, I put the toothpick to good use. ;)

As to the weapons... I never leave home without them.
