Today, a friend & I went to the Fort Worth Gun Show; first time I have gone in five or six years. Several things stand out:

There sure are a lot of companies making AR-15 copies. (Daewoo??!!! WTF?)

Springfield XD seems to have replaced Glock as the polymer auto pistol of the moment.

Colt 1911's are still WAY expensive, and I still want one REAL bad.

The Baretta 92FS is a lot nicer gun than I expected it to be.

Russian Moisin-Nagant seems to have replaced Chinese SKS as the cheap-ass wooden stock assault rifle.

Knife prices, at least for new knives, are better online.
I didn't buy any guns. I'm saving gun money to get my Dan Wesson 357 customized a bit. But I did buy a Boker AK-74 auto that's pretty nice for the price and a Spyderco Wayne Goddard that has seen a lot of abuse. I'm hoping Spyderco CS can help me out with repairs on that one; I do like the design.

Hmm. This is the first time that I have seen a Mosin Nagant referred to as an "assault rifle"

The Daewoo is closer to an AR18, and hasn't been imported for damn near 20 years.

bolt action assult rifle

sure....

That is actually the arfcom approved response when asked what the 9mm ammo you buy at wal-mart is to be used for.

cashier "what will you be using this ammo for."
arfcommer "my bolt action machine gun"

Acceptable alternative answers include, "my tank", "my ammo fort" or simply "rifle" for kicks.

I remember when the Daewoo's were first imported into the US. They were imported by a company called Stoeger (IIRC) and were branded as MAXX-2's. They also had a funny lookin full stock with thumb hole (no pistol grip). Prices were in the 300's. This was back in 1987-88.

OK. I stand corrected. I guess technically the Nagant is, or was, a front-line military rifle rather than an assault rifle. Although, I assume that this rifle was used by Bolsheviks to assault Czarist troops at the Winter Palace, and by the Red Army to assault the Germans at the Battle of Stalingrad.

using that for a definition a brown bess musket is technically an assault rifle lol.

Well, a musket might be stretching the point. Assault rifle should at least have a rifled barrel. :D Assault blunderbuss would be the technical term for the Brown Bess.

TRINITY TROJANS WIN STATE 5A ONCE AGAIN - GOT HAKKA?

I will be setting up for a smaller gun show in a couple of weeks, don't need much personally other than an AR lower. Be moving some of my older guns...I hope...stuff I don't shoot these days. Lot's of parts and such as well. Curious to see what some items are going for, my be lucky and stumble on a couple more Suomi mags.

Now may I ask what an ARFCOMMER is?

A member over at ar15.com.

If you venture over, just bear in mind that they are a rough and ready crowd over there. If you have sentitive sensibilities, you probably wouldn't like it.

Some of the elite in the training community hang out there (Pat Rogers for instance), as well as some intersting guys like Old Painless from the "Box 'o Truth."

So YOUR the nasty old dude with the table full of 10 zillion gun parts, and yet never have what i need for a common firearm? :D

This time around, I think i may buy a few chargers full of 11mm Steyr off of ye', just for kicks. :D

Parts are mostly H&K, some AR, 1911, and S&W. Will be selling my Packer VHE, never do shoot it anymore and I want a nice SXS 28ga. Other guns and odds and ends...

I take it you don't have any striker springs for the MAS 36? :D

What show are you set up at? South Bend is this coming weekend.

The one I had was stamped 1943 on the receiver. A tad late for red vs. white, but prime vintage of offing nazis.

Hey check out the new Beretta its called the 90 Two not 92fs its a new version very cool looking and updated.

wait, Mosin gun? 5-round clip, 7.62, needle bayonnet?
whew, i thought they was loong dico'd

Maybe so, but somebody evidently found a whole bunch of them, and they're selling 'em dirt cheap. Most of the ones I saw last week were marked "UNFIRED". Hmmm....

For those times when all you've got is $75 and you've just got to have a military rifle - a Mosin is the ticket.

I purchased a Mosin several months ago, and it's actually a decent rifle; especially for the price. The recoil is mild and the ammo is reasonably priced and powerful. Good deals for around $75. :)
