My turn to gamble. Got the bug from BG42

Fifth Version, Variation Three?

That's my first impression after quickly perusing Joe's notes. Spacer will be stainless.

Might just clean up real, real nice.

Well done, I'm thinking.

What he said, I have 2 of them.

Gotta watch those bugs you get from BG42.. don't think they respond to medication :D

Hey, I warn people that gambling is bad.

Still.....looks like it probably turns out ok sometimes.

Arrived today, and you are correct. It is in very nice shape with a little grinder sharpening, but not bad. I'm thinking of maybe sending it to the Spa as it has a little blade play in it. I don't suppose Buck will replace handle scales? One side has a few cracks in it. I did notice the lock tab on this one is sharp at the end, others are rounded. Overall for a knife that is 37-39 years old it's in pretty good shape. I figured out what the thong on the sheath was for, original owner must not have trusted the snap always or had it get caught on something and open so they added a little security. That explains the "pinched" sheath.

Talk to Joe before you send it in.....he always has ideas that nobody else thinks of.

Cracks don't look bad.

Lock does look a little high.

All in all......nice old knife!!

The lock bar actually sits a little low in the blade at lockup. I'm assuming this is from wear with age. Not much they can do about that? Or will they change out lock bars? Anyone have any
experience with what can and cannot be changed or fixed?

Well, I have one of these, too.

The lock on mine sits higher than yours at lock up open.

It's more rounded and seems a little longer toward the rear of the knife. Yours is much sharper at the rear and seems to actually go back down at an angle toward the front of the knife.

Makes you wonder if somebody messed with it. That might void the warranty.

You really need to have Joe look at these pics.

He'll tell you, I'm sure.

Well I don't see anything that would give evidence to the lock bar being altered in anyway. Do you have a picture of yours to compare to?

Ok.....I didn't, but I took a couple.

Unless my eyes deceive me......yours looks a lot different from mine.

Again, if you can get Joe to take a look......his opinions are always best on potential warranty work. He always does his best to take care of us.
