I purchased a Mini Kwaiken Titanium a few weeks ago and I love it. It is a little heavy but the weight doesn't bother me and really the weight makes the knife feel solid. I like the blade shape though it is a little thick, which probably adds to the weight, and I love the way it is so smooth opening. Just a quick flick and the blade snaps open. I really like this knife and will carry it a lot.

A couple of weeks after I purchased the Kwaiken I saw the Urban Trapper and it looked super so I ordered it also and received it yesterday. I like the blade shape even more than the Kwaiken but I wasn't prepared for the weight of the knife. It is light! The Kwaiken feels heavy when closed but when opened the weight is well balanced and the knife feels solid in the hand. The Urban Trapper is so light it is a little unnerving to me and feels flimsy when opening it. However, once open the knife feels really good in the hand and the lightness is not as noticeable. My one complaint about the Urban Trapper is the opening. I don't know if it has to do with the lightness or if the knife just needs some breaking in, but it is no where near as smooth as the Kwaiken. With the Kwaiken, a flip of the blade and it snaps open, but with the Urban Trapper, a flip of the blade and it may open half way. I was disappointed with the way it opens but over all I really like the Urban Trapper. Maybe I got a bad knife, maybe the design doesn't lend itself to smooth opening, maybe it will take some breaking in but the opening action just feels rough and way slower than the Kwaiken.

I don't like to carry large knives so I was a little hesitant about buying the Urban Trapper but it is so light it just disappears in my pocket. The Kwaiken is about as large as I normally like to carry and because it is so smooth opening I will probably carry it more. If I can ever get the Urban Trapper to snap open like the Kwaiken then it will be a really hard to decide which knife to carry.

Not yet. I just got it yesterday and spent a few minutes inspecting it. I am looking at it right now and it seems the liner lock is dragging on the blade causing the friction. If I hold the liner lock out of the way the blade will move freely. I just recently started buying more than slip blade pocket knives and I have never tried to adjust a knife. I have to start somewhere so now may be a good time.

What kind of oil should one use on a knife? I have some gun oil and some oil that came with an electric razor but would that be too thick. I have WD-40 but I somehow don't think that would be best for a knife.

I would oil it and break it in before adjusting the pivot. It takes a while for it to be smooth. Any oil works.

I added a couple of drops of the Braun Appliance Oil and what a difference! It will now snap open with the blade in any position and holding it up when I release the lock once the blade gets between 9 and 10 o'clock it just falls closed. I never would have thought the oil would make that much difference. I appreciate you guys helping a novice out.

All my knives get an oil and I break them in before I adjust anything. Glad it worked out.
