At the beginning of the year I decided to buy myself a new sebenza 21. I had tried to buy several comparable models in an attempt to avoid making the steep purchase. The problem was, all these knives had short comings and generally left me feeling like I did not get my moneys worth.
I was worried that when I received my CRK sebenza 21 that it would leave me feeling underwhelmed and that I would find out that it was overhyped. The result was quite the opposite. I was pleased with the ergonomics and the build quality of the knife but there were two things that made it stand out to me that actually had me more pleased than I had expected. The first thing was the smoothness of the knife. I think that the new perforated washers make a difference and with a little extra lubrication wow- this knife glides open and closed like nothing Ive felt before. The second thing was the quality and the secureness of the lock-up. I have had several frame lock knives from both benchmade and spyderco and none of them are in the same league as the sebenza. It seems to leave an especially good impression when compared to my benchmades. In fact Im pretty surprised that so many people debate whether the quality difference between the sebenza and the alias is worth the money.
I carried my sebenza 21 for several weeks before deciding that I wanted a small sebenza regular to round out my carry options. I picked that knife up last week and the lock up is even tighter then on my 21!!!
I have had a knife revelation. The quality of CRK leaves me without any dissatisfaction from my purchase. It leaves me feeling like I got what I paid for and provides a perfect cutting tool which I have been searching for during the last couple of years. Other than the odd knife here or there, I think that CRK will have the majority of my business from now on. I dont care if its 400.00 dollars. At least I feel like they delivered on everything they claim and more. No gimmicks, no playing around. Just a beefy, high performance cutting monster.
To anyone who is a knife fanatic and isnt sure if they can pull the trigger just do it!
