Finally got my Uddha Sword in today! Slightly longer in length than the average Uddha (OAL is 26") and has pretty good balance. Full tang to boot and those ever comforting letters etched on the blade, "U.B." The material for the sheathe is not the same as my khukuris. I'm curious what it is, maybe Mrs. Martino could shed some light on it?
Fantastic blade for sure and a great addition to my collection/anti-zombie defense kit :D

Mighty slender. Who's the kami?

I might request another custom Uddha, a little bit longer in blade length with the base of the blade being 3 inches in width and keeping the current ratios and .5" in blade thickness. I thought the kami was Bura.

I don't know what it is with the Uddha swords, but I feel compelled to buy one, they just have that, something.

Congrats on gettin' a Bura blade. Is it me, or is there a very subtle S shape to the back of the spine? I know mine has one, but only because I can hold it in hand and peer down the blade to be able to tell more easily.

I'm not sure the exact je ne sais quois you refer to, Cpl, but they do have a definite appeal. Maybe it's that short sword/butcher knife hybrid quality?

I didn't notice a "S" shape on the spine but I'll definitely take a closer look at it now that you mention it.

Can it be considered a short sword? I thought the length was the same as a Chinese sabre or Dao.

Right now the OAL of the sword is 26". I was thinking of making it 30" -32" for the next one. and increasing the blade width a bit.

I wish I were one of the resident experts on ethnographic swords to be able to say for sure. I know a few folk here and elsewhere have noted it most closely resembles the Salawar Yataghan, apparently developed for largely fighting chainmail-clad opponents.

Great news, the sheathe is made of water buffalo (Vaishi ko chala) hide.
Thank you for the nice pictures, Andy

I consider it a short sword, and khukri's of 20"+ could be too. If you go back to very ancient times, the average sword would have been about 20" - 25" anyway.
