  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

My version of a survival SAK - what do you think

Backpacking and survival should be kept simple and light with-in reason. My idea of a light weight SAK would be as follows

a) Large lock blade
b) Wood saw
c) Awl
d) Tweezers
e) Toothpick

What do you think?

While I can appreciate the desire to travel light, I personally want the tools discussed in the other open threads. For the extra ounce or two, they can be worth their weight in gold. Specifically, I want:

Locking main blade,
Woodsaw,
Scissors,
Combo screwdriver / can opener / wire stripper like the Yeoman model has,
Phillips screwdriver,
Magnifying glass,
Cork Screw with eyeglass screwdriver,
Awl,
Toothpick,
Tweezers, and;
Ballpoint pen.

It's not the pace of life that concerns me, It's the sudden stop at the end.

If we are not going down the multitool route then I still go for the SAK Huntsman.
Just add: fire flint, philips, pen and compass.

The Outrider is nice for when going to the park for a picnic. Next stage is a multitool. After that its a toolbox.
