I just received my first FFFBM... Black crinkle and black canvas micarta..
My first Busse was a CG FBM black/snake. I also stripped that but polished the entire blade. I eventually traded it. It's good to have a big heavy chopper again...

First I stripped it.
The finish was a combination of double cut and unfinished darkened steel with minor dimples.

Usually when I strip Busse s there is some black discoloration that stripper just can not remove.. The blade was fine but my spine was covered with black stains in the actual steel.. I decided to give the spine a medium/high polish with 120 grit sand paper then moved up to 600 grit. Finially I finished off the spine with a 3M fine grit wet sandpaper sponge..

I like how the upper part of the saber grind is dark while the bottom is double cut..I also noticed the black canvas micarta matches the finish pretty well. This is going to be a user so I know it is not going to win any beauty contests..:D

Thanks Tyrkon !

How long did it take you to polish the spine and freshen up the finish?

I spent around 1.5 hours just on the spine.. It's kinda took a while to get a uniform finish when doing it by hand..

Looking real good. looks a lot like mine. :D

I didn't bother too much with the spine yet. It needs a little cleaning up but not much. So I spent about 15 min. with the scotch brite drill attachment on the flats.

I like it... it looks sort of primered.

Spring is on the way and it's bringing out the strippers.

Looks much better without the paint, the darker flats look pretty cool:thumbup:
