In another thread R.J. Martin asked to see the rest of my guthook skinner that I call "Nevada ULU" I didn't want to hijack that thread so I started a new one. This disign works quite well. It was field tested by someone that wouldn't be afraid to tell me if there were any problems. Anyway here it is R.J. and anyone else that is interested. I will provide details if anyone is interested. I had to brighten the picture up some so it is a little faded, sorry

Very cool custom take off on the old Case Caribou Skinner......

That's a neat knife.

Fitzo, after reading your post I did a search on "Case Caribou Skinner" and although I have never seen one or even new of their existance I definately see the resemblance. Just goes to show nothing new in the world of knives.
Jeez and I thought I had something quite unique.:grumpy:

B. The steel is O1 and the finish on the flats is 40 grit right off of the surface grinder (rock) the bevels are 1000 grit and then buffed with white compound.
It gives a pretty good contrast.

Thanks for looking guys, and Fitzo thanks for the heads up on the case.

Jerry, that knife was only made by Case for two years, '79 & '80. You may have seen one briefly many years ago and it buried itself in the subconscious. Just as possible, you may have simply reproven the old adage, "great minds think alike"! :) Form follows function. Bell wasn't the only one invented the telephone.

I definitely like your version of an Americanized ulu a whole lot more....

Very Cool design, I pretty much detest a gut hook, but that looks like something I would give a try.
