Although I LOVE my beat up, old, red handled Mora #2, and use it daily, I conjured up in my mind what MY perfect Mora would be.... Found a nice piece of Oregon Juniper, bought a #2 Blade from Ragnar, and believe it or not, the piece just behind the bolster is good old Florida Fatwood.... If you find the old, bleached out limbs, it really makes nice handle material... Hope you enjoy the pictures, it was sure fun to build!

Way to make a 10$ knife look like a 100$ knife. I love what you did to this Mora its stunning.

Well thank you very much for the compliment! Truth be told, the horn on the back was from a screwup.... I forgot where the tang ended, sanded too deep and exposed it... Tried and tried to get the two round pieces to fit with no obvious gap, finally got the idea to use black brushed suede, then when the epoxy dried, I saturated the suede with super glue... Then it sanded and buffed like good spacer material! Could I repeat it? Maybe get close, but no way I could exactly replicate it...
I really like the bead blasted blade too! Actually I just took vinyl tape and taped off the highly polished scandi bevel, then used my cheap sandblasted and some white silica sand from beind my house (Florida covered in it), and it worked as good as the bead blasting material they wanted $30 for a small bag...
Thanks again, I'm really proud of it too! Going to be working on a few more knives. I forgot how fun and relaxing this hobby is!

Regards

Beautiful mora makeover! I hope you used a ventilator blasting with sand as its deadly to your lungs (i used to blast professionally ).

Beautiful knife, are you selling it?

They say never say never, but I really don't think so.... It may be one to put away and pass down to my son, or grandson....
I would give a lot to have something like that from my Grandpa or Dad, never will.

Actually, I didn't.... I have very cheap, simple tools in my garage... I had on a pair of safety glasses is all. I SHOULD know better, RN for 16 yrs, and surely know what "Silicosis" is... Duh... Next time, I will have one on, or at least a wet bandana.. Thanks for the wake up, sheesh, how dumb of me.
