The very first Busse I ever bought was back in the mid-90s. It is made from A2 steel and came with an Eagle nylon sheath. I loaned it to a friend before I came up to Alaska to teach and I just got it back from him while I was down in the lower 48 for a short summer vacation. It's roughly the size and shape of the Active Duty but I don't remember it having that name, am I getting senile and this is an Active Duty or did they have a different name back then?

I'm thinking about putting this up for sale, does anybody have an idea of its value? While it's a great little knife, I find myself getting ready to buy some mountain property in Colorado and I need cash. I'm actually parting with a number of my Busses and even a couple of my semi-auto firearms. In case anyone is interested, I have a Batac, a Killer Bee, a Basic 6, and a SAR-5 pumpkin currently up. I'll likely be adding a few others a little later.

Looks like a SHMS ( Straight handle Mean Street ) to me but i'm no expert. Also from my quick searching the SHMS was made in infi I think. The SHBA however was A2. If it is a SHMS I seem to remember a mint condition one going for $400-450.

I'm sure one of the more knowledgeable Hogs will be here shortly.

Thats is a straight handle Mean Street, but as for value I couldn't tell you. Don't see too many of those

Either a Mean Street or a Lean Mean Street. How thick is it?

It looks well loved.

It's .240 at the ricasso, I presume that makes it a Mean Street. It was well used when I loaned it out, I think the guy I loaned it to put it in a BOB and left it there the whole time I was gone.

I was asked about why I put my Busses for sale on Ebay rather than the Busse Exchange site here. Since I'm out in the middle of nowhere I have to do most of my banking transactions via e-transfers. This makes Paypal a better way for me to do business. It's been my experience that many of the guys selling on BF don't like to use Paypal. I do understand that, and I hope you'll understand my situation.

I still have several Busses that are too precious to part with, they won't be going up for sale.

What you have is an original Mean Street, there were no "Lean" or regular ones, they just happend to come in different thicknesses. They came somewhere from your .240" up to a little over .300". Most all of them are A2 except for the last ones that have the hollow rivets (which did come in a "lean" version). My estimate for one that used is $375 - $475. :D
