Hi guys im proud with my first Busse, i know its orange, i love the color, my future collection will have only orange knives like orange rucki, rmd , bushawacker satin .22
The knive came with a nice leather sheath, but the problem is that the knife is dull. should i sharpen it with a Smith's pocket pal? whats the edge on it ? v-grind or convex? recommend me some good maintaining techniques please, all the help is appreciated.
Thanks for looking

Send it to Busse. Quite a few of the SAR3 knives went out dull. They are great little blades once you get then sharp. I am a orange junkie as well!
I am hoping for a orange 911!

You can send it into Busse or what I would do is give a hone on a diamond stone or similar, then finish it off with a strop. Bring it up like a scalpel.

Oh, and congrats on your first INFI! Now the addiction will be serious. :)

is it convex grind , should i sharpen it on a wetstone or i can use the Smith pocket-pal?

Looks like a standard V grind. I'd hone it on a whetstone instead of the pocket pal. But that said, just do whater works for you. If you get it sharp, you've won. :)

casio pathfinder PRG-110Y . Slimmest, sleekest and latest, military black. you can find it on ebay for 200$

Grats on your first (OF WAY TO F%^%# MANY(lol never too many)) Busse blades!! Like a redheaded stepchild, they love to be beat!*

*I do not condone the beating or mistreatment of redheaded step children*

I managed to get it wicked sharp with the diamond sharpening rod from the Smith's pocket pal. I think from now on i will use only diamond rods and i will order from ebay 2 Lansky Sharpeners retractible 5'' diamond rod, would be perfect for survival

What do you guys think about this Lansky diamond sharpening rod?

Great knife you got there! and that sheath is lookin good, who made it? I love my sar3, and is in my bag every day. I sharpen mine with diamond stone -> whetstone -> strop.

Lansky should be good to go as well.

heck, murray carter has a video on youtube of him using a cinderblock and cardboard box to sharpen a knife to shaving sharp!

Thats a fine looking piece of knife, angi. Here are a couple of its siblings. As for sharpening, I like Rob's approach - whatever works. I slap mine on an Edge Pro.

Just sharpen it how you would a normal knife.

Nothing magical about sharpening infi.

I prefer to convex mine, and maintain with a strop.

Just use what ever method you are comfortable with.

the sheath is Savage . QUOTE : Savage made sheaths Saxis ,VA

the strap was loose and i soaked in in hot water last night and not its so stiff it will break if i bend it. is it another way to make the leather soft again?

Mink Oil could help. There are a lot of other leather conditioners/cleaners/treatments. But mink oil seems to work well without over softening the leather. You can get it in most stores near the shoe polish.

Saddle soap is also good.

Neatsfoot oil is another good leather care product I have used for leads, dog collars...etc but I wouldn't use it on a sheath. Maybe a sheath maker will chime in with some expertise :)

when i soaked in 2 minutes in hot water last nite, the cup got dark yellow like i was making some tea, so the strap must have been treated with some sort of chemicals
