So just like most people who haven't had an Emerson, I used to hate them. I loved the looks, grinds, ergos.. Just couldn't justify spending that for the 154cm steel at 57-59. Just wasn't happening.
My little brother just got his first Emerson last week and us both being knuts we usually like the same blades. He picked up the Cqc7 online for 159 for his birthday with money he had saved up. So just like little brother I was on the hunt for another knife. I love buying in store mostly because I can handle the blades before spending a chunk of money on them. So I found a store in SoCal that will price match and beat by 5%. I thought well I would just deal with the price match but okay, this is fantastic. Started looking around at all the different knives they had and couldn't decide. I've handled about all there is and owned quite a few as well. I started looking online for the cheapest prices on several different brands and models. Came across knifeworks.com (not sure if we can mention sites without them being a vendor so mods, just let me know and I'll remove it) and they had the Mini Commander stonewashed serrated for 142. I'm not a huge fan of serrated but that is one heck of a deal I thought. So after calling the store and asking them to order it. It was there only 5 business days later. Drove over an hour to go pick it up. Got it an an Opinel #8 for about 150 after 8% sales tax. (M-Com was 139 after the 5% price match, 5% military discount, and 8% sales tax. Opinel was 12)...

Needless to say, I'm very pleased with my purchase. It will not be me last Emerson, that is a fact. I've been opening and closing this thing like crazy to try and break it in. My only complaint which isn't much is the lock is a little sticky. Already tried a sharpie but not a pencil. Not a huge deal because I know it'll get better but my thumb will be permanently be numb if I keep going at this pace but what do I care, that'll just mean the next one I can break in even faster!
Oh forgot to mention, also to add. Does anybody else have a problem with the washer on the opposite side of the lock not actually fully seating on the blade itself? Mine has just a tiny gap but if I tighten it, it goes away but also makes the action even more stiff.
