I went looking back and found out I joined different knife forums in 03 with the intentions of buying a custom knife. Then it turned into hell these guys help you build knives I'll make MY OWN knife that'd be awesome. Then it turned into well dad really likes this first knife so it's his for Christmas. THen it turned into people will pay me for knives? Heck yeah I'll sell them. So 5 years later I still did not have a knife of my own to carry every day I always sold them before I carried them. Don't get me wrong I used my own knives constantly since I work on a hunting ranch and several guys there own my knives, I always had to borrow one from them. Seven guys on a ranch and the only one without a knife is a knifemaker....embarrassing.

Well sorry that was so long here is my own knife. 6.5 inches long, cpm 154, I have done less than 10 hollow grinds and this is one of them, 3.25" blade, dovetail bolsters, sheep horn handle heat treat by Paul Bos. It's fairly small and pointy because it's going to be an edc 365 days a year and a caping knife 7 months out of the year. Tell me what you think

Looks great! I like a small fixed blade...makes a nice BP knife. Real handy!

Extremely nice, Ryan. Love the handle, bolsters, grind...everything. You picked a good one to keep!

its the old contractors house is never finished thing. always working on some one else's house

LOL. Hey nice knife. Looks good and should work good for years. One of the things I like about ,aking lnives is knowing that some of them will get handed down from father to son and grandson. I hope some are working long after I am not.

I appreciate the comments guys.
Texasslim My wife says I'l take an arm and a leg for this one, but I can make one like it for cheaper lol. I've had two offers on it this morning and she threatened me if I sold it.

Ryan, great looking knife! Definately one to be proud to keep. And I guarantee it will also bring you in more business. Nothing like showing someone a knife you built yourself to spike their interest in getting one of their own.

BTW, I'm down here in Lubbock, and you're about the closest person to me I've seen on this forum. We should get together sometime, and maybe you can show me how to actually do this stuff :D.

I appreciate the comments guys!

Hey silver_pilate I'm originally from Denver City just south of Lubbock and the wife is from Seminole. Our parents are still at our hometowns so we still go through there quiet often. If we can figure a day this spring/summer we'll do some grinding. After looking at your post a while back with your first knife you sold I don't know that I could teach you anything looks like you know exactly what you're doing. That was a good looking knife.

Sounds like a plan! I'm from Hale Center originally (between Plainview and Lubbock) and I lived 3 years in Amarillo through grad school. Haven't been that way in 4 years, but we should definately try to meet up sometime there or here. As things start to settle into summer, I'll send an email.

And thanks for the complement on the knife I sold. The customer is extremely pleased with it after I deepened the thumb rest grooves a bit to his liking. I'm still pretty amature at this for the most part, and one thing I haven't delved into is hollow grinds (mostly because the Grizzly 2x72 isn't that good for it). I know you can show me some things.

silver_pilate Yeah definitly send an email. I've talked to a couple of makers up here, but haven't gone to anyone else's shop or had anyone at my shop. When you get settled in email me and we'll get something going. I do have a forge built, but I've yet to get my hammers and the anvil I want rounded up. Maybe by then it will be going. Just so you know I go by doublearrow on other forums if you get to looking to get a hold of me.

Well Ryan you know that old saying of the shoemaker's kids not having shoes LOL. Looks great is that ram's horn for the handle? Very sweet blade, I would be proud and honored to carry a knife like that everyday.

Sam that is ram's horn. First time I've used it and I really like the way it looks. The one thing I'll be kicking myself over is I didn't get it stabilized. I live in a really dry climate so I got the thickness down to where I needed it then let it set for a while. Thanks for the comment I'm hoping this knife will undo all the ribbing I got for being a knifemaker with no knife :D
