Well, I'm still in Boise, but today I got to take a break from my family's winter vacation of skiing in McCall, ID to visit the Chris Reeve Knives factory/store front in Boise before I fly out back to Virginia.

I think I was there for over 2 hours (sorry CRK staff!) and had a great time. Anne was my tour guide and I can't tell you how cool it is to see and understand how everything is made. I ended up walking away with a Green Beret (being shipping since I don't trust TSA) and a nice T-shirt.

More to come when I get home.

that is very cool! congrats! you should have end up with a Sebenza too!

Hey Troy,

I envy you :D I would love to check out the Chris Reeve Knife factory & store as well. I have never been to that part of the country & have no plans to go there any time soon. But if I ever do get near there I am going to go for sure.

That's awesome! I hope I get an excuse to get near the factory one of these days. I'd love to tour a place like that.

Sounds like a great trip! Next time I'm in ID, I might just have to drop by. Do they welcome knife-nu...I mean....people to tour the facility?

I lived up there for three years. Yet, at the time, I was still new to the whole knife thing and didn't even know CRK existed. Stupid stupid stupid stupid. I need to head back there so I can get the tour, and buy more knives. :)

Finally back in good old Virginia. I have to correct myself in that calling it a factory is doing a disservice to the great people in there crafting the knifes. Below is the only picture I took before I walked in. While I was walking in, so was Anne, so from that point forward I never had an opportunity to snap any photos.

I will say, if you don't have the CRK 2-disk DVD yet, you owe it to yourself to get one (call them up and order a copy). Everything is on the DVD and more than what I saw during the time I spent there.

Lastly, I was very lucky while I was there to run into our very own Dave (user: Fooj). It was nice to be all knife geeky with him and talk about all the amazing things CRK has and is doing. I saw a few cool things while I was there, which I can't comment on or else CRK would hurt/kill/etc me, but hopefully, there may be something new from Chris Reeve and company around the time of Blade :)

Troy,

After reading your posts and viewing your website, it was great to finally meet you. I must say, after your first day ever on a snowboard just the day before, you were getting around quite well. I can not say the same for myself -- Motrin and portable heating pads were keeping me upright after my first day of the season on the mountain trying unsuccessfully to keep up with my 13 year old daughter.

Glad you found the tour interesting. It's always fun to have a visit from a knife nut. See you at Blade.

Dave
