I ordered my SOG Vulcan from ebay after reading all the praises about it here. This is one awesome folder! If you have big hands and want a smooth
operating lockback, this is a great choice. The blade is thick enough to cut a hole in a car door, flicks to a complete open position and locks with the little kicker that sticks out. And I have never purchased a blade this sharpe right out of the box. It feels great in your hand and works as well for a right hander or lefty like me. I do not think it could get any better than this! :D

The Blade Shop has the Mini Vulcan listed for $71. Not shown as a pre order or out of stock item either . Maybe they actually have some.

The Vulcan is my favorite knife and has been for about a month and a half now. When I first purchased it, it was hard to break it in because it is such a nice looking knife. Once I did though, I started putting it to the test. This is one bad a$$ knife especially for the money. It is very thick and sturdy, and with the finger flip I can deploy my knife to ready position in one-two seconds. I honestly would have expected to pay $200 for this knife. There are lesser knives out there that cost more than this one, not to say any names *cough, cough....emerson* but who am I to judge. The blade is perfectly legal in city limits and outdoors due to the 3 1/2" blade. I would highly recommend purchasing this knife.

I'm pretty impressed with this knife as well and have recommended it accordingly. I may even take it hunting.

I got mine yesterday. I am super impressed with it. All I can say is: WOW! I might write a proper review when I have the time. SOG created a real winner here.

Anyone had any problems with the "flipper" causing the Vulcan to open in their pockets?

I'm wanting one and was impressed with the one I handled, but am curious to here from folks that have carried one awhile.

I carry mine in my front right pocket of my jeans, on the right side of it. So even if the flipper managed to be pushed, the blade wouldnt open because its pushing against the side of the pocket. That may be a little hard to understand.

Every 5 years or so I see a knife that really gets my attention. This is definitely one of those pieces.

Since the Vulcan is not "open assisted" I doubt the flipper could cause opening in your pocket. The lock has a small spring that pushes the knife back closed as long as you dont go past about 1/4 open. I have paid more money for much less quality in the past. If someone were to give me a second Vulcan for Christmas, I would not return it. I would put it away in case I lost the one I carry now.:D

The only gripe I have with this knife is that the pivot screw is very picky. Too loose and there will be some side to side blade play (in the closed position). Too tight and the blade will not swing open and closed as easily as I would like. You really need to find the "sweet spot" with the pivot. But it comes loose with more aggressive opening, im going to try and put some Loctite on the pivot screw. Other than that minor problem, I love the knife. The arc lock is very smooth, and you can do many "manipulations" with it. I got a little carried away and it took a fillet off the tip of my right ring finger. :D

Also, I was testing the factory edge on it, and I was able to whiddle a hair into two slices. Very impressive.

Just got my first SOG today as a very early Christmas present from my brother. It was a Vulcan that i had been eying for sometime. Haven't got to play with it much but so far i love it.

There is only one concern i have on the arc lock. I have found the side with the flat head screwdriver part (side with the clip) come loose twice. When it's loose i find that the arc lock is very wiggly. This is my first knife with an arc lock, i'm wondering if i can unscrew that spot without ruining anything and add a little loctite to it?
