I've held off for years. I can't do it any more.

I want to start small. Looking for your opinions on the best Busse for gutting/skinning deer, small game, and typical camp tasks. Somewhere around a 3" blade would be preferred.

I'd like something inexpensive... (I know that word is relative in the Busse world) but it seems that handle materials can really drive the price up. Basic Micarta or G10 is fine for me.

So.....professional Busse'ers.....where do I start??

Game warden, Active Duty are probably your best bets. You can buy a BAD at BCS now, so that might be your best and cheapest option

here is one of the BADs....

Blade = 3.5" OAL = 7.75" Thickness = .125

Okay this is my Busse ignorance showing through. I thought there were a few smaller models available in the $150 or less range? The Bear Cub, for example.

I was going to justify $150 or so, but I can't do $225.

The Bear Cub is a 2-3 finger knife and VERY small. Personally, the smallest I would pick for camp chores is the GW and I prefer the AD as it gives a full four finger grip.

Ah, the pics must be misleading. I thought it to be a bigger knife.

Maybe my Busse dream will be put on hold for now.

Can't really see the bear cub gutting anything, just too small. GW or AD would do it fine

If Busses are too expensive for your tastes try the Swamp Rat and Scrapyard knives.

Scrapyard has made a couple knives in the size you mentioned. Check out the SS4 (INFI) and the Mud Puppy (154 CM)

By Swamp Rats try the Swamp Warden and Hairy Carry. I'm not sure waht else they made in the 3 inch range. I'm sure somebody will come along and add to my suggestions.

I just started looking at the Swamp and Scrap yards.

With the same criteria, what would you guys suggest from them? I've never owned INFI steel and if I'm going to drop the coin, I'd like to at least stick with that.

Thanks fellas. Good bunch here it seems.

K been poking around a bit. What about the Street Scrapper from Scrapyard? Seems to fit my needs well and priced right.

Any input from you guys? Looks like there are a lot of discontinued models, is this one even available?

If you must have INFI you will have to stick with the busse line, Swamp rat uses SR101, Scrapyard uses SR77

I believe the Street Scrapper is the SS4. I do know the SS4 is INFI and fits your budget. Check out the for sale forum and check back often as knives come and go frequently.

The SS4 is not available anymore from Scrapyard, but it is indeed made of INFI.

You can keep your eye open on the exchange for one, they generally go around $200-225. It is well worth the money.

Grrr....damn knives and their appreciating values. Doesn't anyone have a beat up BAD they'll sell for $150? :D

I guess I'll just save my pennies and look for a good deal. The BAD does look to be exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks guys.
