I've been buying Cheapie Timex and Casios at K-mart the last several years. Wear 'em until the band broke or I cracked the plastic. Would like something with more class that'll last a while. But I don't know anything about watches that cost more than $20!!

Willing to spend about $75. Its gotta a second hand to take pulses and such. Can have a digital readout, too. Provide links if possible.

As mentioned: I know nothing about good watches. Thanks in advance for the help.

How about a higher end Casio like a G Shock?

I dont think that a fashion watch in that price range would last as well as even the low end Casios you've been using if you're hard on them

In that price range you don't have a lot of choices for good watches. If you want an automatic google 'Seiko 5' or 'Seiko 5 military'.

Get a Seiko 5 Military watch from ebay for around $60-$70. It's an automatic meaning you won't need to replace a battery and is light years more durable than your past watches.

Also, it's good for taking pulses and resp rates because it's got a glowing second hand so if for some reason your partner kills the lights while you're in the back doing your thing you can finish without a hitch.

Plus it's small and can fit under gloves easily if you have to do something messy.

I would have to agree on the Seiko 5, I have had one for about 5 years. Great watch.

I have this watch and like it. It's close to what you are looing to spend.

O-WOW on sale...didnt see that, Man I should get another while they are on sale.

+1 for the AQC. My girlfriend got me one for Christmas, and I love it. I've got a couple nicer watches that I like to wear more, but when I'm doing something where the watch might get lost or damaged I switch to the AQC and it hasn't let me down yet.

Did you see the new bond zulu/nato bands on CC? I gotta pick some of those up

I would recommend against the Seiko 5. I have one, this model here and its just not that great. Loses about 5 minutes of time per month, and if you let it sit for more than a day without wearing it, it will stop. Also the crystal that Seiko uses really sucks, scratches very easily.

Instead I would recommend the Citizen Eco-Drive, specifically this model. Doesn't have any of the problems the Seiko has, since its a quartz watch that uses a solar cell behind the dial to power the watch. Fully charged it will run for 6 months in the dark. Much more accurate than the Seiko automatic, and the one that I have had for almost a year now has no scratches on the crystal. I own the slightly more expensive model with the chronograph here. It's an excellent watch and I can't recommend it enough.

If you are physically tearing up watches, I'd stay away from anything too expensive. Maybe buy a nice Citizen Eco-Drive or similar for going to town, and keep buying quality inexpensive watches like the Timex Ironman Triathlon for work and outdoors.

I suspect that whatever you're doing to break a Timex or Casio will also break an expensive watch, or at least mar it. I've had my Timex Triathlon for about ten years; it's a bit scratched but still works great. That's years of working around drill rigs, working and hiking in mountains and deserts, motorcycling, etc.

It sucks big time when your watch breaks.

I bought this watch at Macy's (on sale) for approx $1500. Ran great for up to a week before the 2 year warranty expired. It was running when I went to sleep... woke up to take a leak (read 12:30), thought I had 5 more hours to sleep  It was really 0400.

I was a little pissed. A watch that costs that much shouldn't just quit out of the blue. So a few weeks later I bought a Sea Dweller. I hope this one won't be a repeat of the last.

Big 5 often has sales on SAK watches. I wore one for about 12 years. Still runs and I still use it on occasion. I've worn it doing construction, at the beach, in the water. Pretty bullet proof. On sale they are well within your price range.

That does suck big time, iv had the same watch for a while now with no issues at all thankfully.
